Hey guys. I'm up for a new handset in July/August - I have a friend coming down from the UK, so if I can find enough cash for the S2 then I'll consider it.
Does anyone know if Samsung SA will still honour the warranty here?
I'm probably going to end up just getting the Galaxy S though, as it's sitting at R1,849 on a Talk 75s - which isn't *too* bad I guess. But I'm sure tempted to get the S2!

if you get the s, as good a phone as it is, you'll kick yourself for a long time that you didn't get the s2! i doubt the s2 is going to be much more expensive than the s anyway, as the s is retailing at vodacom currently for 6.5k or thereabouts.
the other think is to consider the smart 120 package instead of the talk 75s. it's 120 minutes (per second), so more talk-time, 100 sms's, and 250mb data for 450 bucks. a little more than the talk 75, but free phone and more minutes (if you use them) mean you actually pay less in the end
They sure do. That's what most of us have been anticipating the past few pages... Best bet is to order now from clove (better communications than handtec) if you want it sooner than later. Just be prepared to pay for customs/VAT on delivery, as well, to jump through some hoops to prove its not a fraudulent order (usually faxing a copy of ID or whatnot...)
Seems to me we are both in for another long week. They're not even responding to the ticket I send them this morning.
Yup... I still think they'll get more on Wednesday if Clove's site is accurate. More from XDA - someone phoned and they only have enough to take up until orders placed on the 6th (I'm assuming not all), and that the emails are sent out late afternoon, so you still have a slight chance... Worst case scenario, you'll be in the first from the next batch.
Handtec update on SGS2 page:
"We are expecting stock to arrive throughout this week (23/05 - 27/05). Orders will be shipped on a first come basis. We are hopeful that we should clear a majority of backorders in the next few days.

Ok so clove approved me, so now I'm in the waiting boat like you guys...the email said they expecting stock this week. What are the chances that my order will get shipped before thursday? Yeah I'm optimistic like that!

To be honest I think you will be using the s2 for a week+ and we will still be waiting for a tracking number from handtec.

i know this is somewhat evil of me, but i can't help thinking that i may even have an s2 from vodacom before all you handtec guys :/
