I've decided to wait until August to buy the phone when I move to the US.. Gawd its going to be a long wait :(

wooo hooo, phone sitting at London Heathrow :) How long you guys think it will take to get here?
Also, is there any indication of the total price paid for the phone on the package itself? Or does the DHL chap just ask for his R1300?

Congrats, my prediction, it will be at or thambo tonight, with luck customs will clear it tomorrow and then it's quick. I used DHL and they were very quick/fast and efficient on the delivering part. Your delay if any will be with our customs.

Tnx for that! Any indication of the price paid on the package / slip? Or is just the duty amount listed?

I can renew my contract in 1 month. This phone or the HTC Sensation better be out by then or I am going to be very upset. I can't stand the thought of waiting more than a month for my new phone.

I paid R 850, but I saw on this forum some ppl paid up to 1.4k and I think customs will not be able to give u a logical answer for this.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood the question. You only pay DHL's invoice when they deliver the phone. They will refund customs/SARS

Cool stuff, but do they state on the package that the value of the phone is 415 pounds

Did not look, I was so exited and in a hurry to open the package but my guess is yes they would have stated a monetary value

Tnx, reason being... I don't want the ppl at home to know how much I've paid!

Now I need to protect this baby from bumps and scratches. The prices they charge in the UK is reasonable, it's the shipping-cost that is the killer. Need 1 or more ppl to buy with me to cut down on the shipping-cost. pm or email me on [email protected]. I'm in Gauteng area

Came across this on the XDA forums:
http://www.gelaskins.com/store/skins/phones/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II

It protects your phones body, and you can cover it with a skin of your choice (they will even make one from your own picture). Great way to personalise your phone.
Combined with a screen protector, your phone should be well protected.

Think I'll get that for myself when/if I buy another SGS2 (gonna kiss my brand new one goodbye tomorrow when it gets shipped to the buyer).

I don't know if they ship to SA but maybe you can convince them to mail it in an envelope, to avoid any fees.

Nearly manufactured a brick last night. I'm a noob and tried to root the s2. At the restart stage it just keep on hanging and nothing happened. By 2:00 this morning I found a file of about 500 mb to "flush" the phone. It's working again but I think it changes the sofware. Do not really what it was before but now it's -

Android version 2.3.3
Baseband version 19100XXKHD
Kernel version2.6.35.7-19100XWKDD-CL161513root@DELL103#2
Build number GINGERBREAD.XWKDD

What does this mean. Am I using a newer version now or is it a older version, and if it's a older version how can I correct it?

Let's hope so. That would be such a disappointment.

That's a bit over the top, I reckon. According to gsmarena.com, you have to look really, really hard and you need to know where to look to even see it. Not a dealbreaker by any stretch of the imagination.

The phone comes standard with Android 2.3.
