Since RR was mostly working I wanted it, but scared of issues I also decided to dual boot.

The dual boot setup was damn simple as well. I just flashed the latest Siyah kernel(don't do this if you running GB, only in ICS or JB), restarted into CWM app (pre-installed on the kernel), copied the RR3.0.5 zip onto mt phone and selected "flash to secondary" and voila, I have dual boot ICS and JB!!!!!!!

I suspect most of you know this but root/kernel flash/dual boot was new to me, I have only done a KIES update before... not bad for one night.

How did you flash Google Apps on the secondary rom?

I actually DL'd SuperNexus before I saw RR, I decided to go with RR because I saw people still had problems with wifi connection and bt battery drain on supernexus, so I took the RR plunge. Not disappointed so far. But I will try SN out if im bored with RR, flashing was so damn easy

Goolge Apps is part of the RR package, when you setup installation you can select a full, lite and custom install. I chose custom and just ticked the Gapps box and it happened.

I forgot to mention, I used the KI4 modem (you get to choose on installation) and it works well on Cell C.

Hmmm so tempting but with the stupid week I'm having definitely a no go..

Would most likely end up with a brick this week.
 
If you run ICS already the only way you can brick your phone is if you flash the kernel wrong. I don't even know how you can do that. Because you don't touch your current ROM and only create a new boot partition, you can not damage your current "primary" ROM. Its really dead simple. And you can always do a factory reset to go back to stock.

As long as you don't do something stupid, like try to format your card using the second ROM. When I did that (albeit with an Alpha ROM that insisted I needed to do this) I lost my EFS - that put me back a few days, let me tell you.

Bottom line: be careful, make backups, and read the forums.

Yeah yeah, I know you are getting tired of me bit this is just a quick update.

I tried to use as many features as I possibly could to test this ROM and IMHO I think this is stable enough for a daily. It does seem to consume more memory than ICS though, but I never experienced any problems. I tried games/WiFi/BT/tethering/GPS/... it all seems to be working fine. It did freeze for a second when I copied files onto it via WiFi but not more than 10 seconds then it worked fine again.

I am going to run this as my main ROM for now. Also, my battery life is much better than with ICS, but that is mostly due to the kernel.

AFAIK you need a rooted kernel that supports BLN, I am running the latest Siyah kernel. I just installed it to test and it works like a charm. It lights up fir texts/im/emails (all I checked so far), you can choose between the lights being constantly on, fading in and out(called breathing) and flashing. I like the breathing.

I figured rooting was needed. I have not checked into rooting yet, do you guys use the JIG or is there not a problem getting the phone into the download or upgrade mode? If I do root then I would just like the most stable version thats all. Got the phone from MTN (dunno if MTN locks it).
