Doesn't he need to reset his SMSC no? I'm posting from my phone, so I don't have the links. It does feel kinda ****ty when something doesn't work, but you'll get it right soon, and it will be awesome knce again. Hang in there, we'll help you out (at least eventually)

Try to flash XXLPS instead. Use CWM. I'm on my phone now, so I don't have link, but there's a website for the modems. It's called veyka.com or something. Check this thread. It was posted before.

Seems to be just NFC, not aware of any stores in SA that do NFC

Ok. The problem is not with the software but with the network. The internet works when i use a Vodacom simcard but not with my MTN simcard.
I have requested settings to be sent to my phone, but this does not work. I also tried adding a manual APN but it does not save.
Any other ideas?
Going to try and phone my service provider maybe they can help.

Have you tried searching this thread and updating your SMSC no? it is strange that your sim card works on stock ROM...

Is that sim internet enabled? Sometimes new sim cards need to be activated first.
The sim is/was activated. Worked fine until I upgraded to 4.0.4.
I had a similar problem after flashing MIUI the first time a few months ago: No internet and unable to save any APN's manually. When I requested APN's from MTN (*123*1#) I could save it, but it didn't allow me to access GPRS/Edge/3G, nothing.
I tried everything suggested in lots of different threads that had worked for some people: saving the APN's before flashing and restoring afterward; new modems; re-flashing (different versions of MIUI) after clearing out EVERYTHING (which resulted in a boot loop but didn't solve my problem
); removing, cleaning and re-seating the sim; changing the connection type under *#*#4636#*#* - Phone Information; sacrificing a small bird (just kidding 
); some other things, but eventually went back to stock.
A week ago I decided to try again. Same problem.
This time, however, I tried a Virgin sim card as well (didn't occur to me last time) - and it worked. I've been with MTN for a number of years but I'm planning to switch to CellC soon, so a new sim card will therefore be my next option.
I think I saw something somewhere about USIMS not being entirely compatible with ICS... No idea if that's the case here, but my MTN sim card *is* a few years old (and the chip looks slightly different from the Virgin one).
Since I have wi-fi at home and at work, no mobile internet is manageable, for now.

Has anyone done some testing regarding the dorimanx and siyah kernel wrt battery life? I'm currently on RR3.05 with siyah 4.1.2 using 'battery' profile but if dorimanx is better wrt battery then I'll switch.

Dorimanx to me is like a kid with new lego - he changes too often. It's like he has ADD ... Don't get me wrong, his intention is brilliant, but all he does is take Siyah and tweaks it to suit him. And when he starts adding all these other wonderful things, he has to bring out a lot of versions to make it work right. (comment based on his thread a couple months ago). When Ghokanmoral finally stops development for the S2, I will consider going to DM, but not before that.
