You guys is funny ......

As far as stability and battery life is concerned - I acknowledge that Dorimanx is doing a lot of work on his S2 kernel and the preference here seem to lean to Dorimanx 7.x and Rootbox, but If you want superstability with very good battery life, Siyah 4.1.5 and CM9 stable release will serve you well. CM10 has not yet reached the stability of CM9, but it is "new" and I would advise that you read before you download and flash any nightly ROM. I flashed a huge amount of kernel/ROM combinations in the past, but I have settled on Siyah 4.1.5 and stock Sammy firmware XWLPD for a while now (untill this morning that is). It is quick enough for me and very smooth. And with TB, I froze all the cr@p I didn't want. With that, I have JKay and ICS Domination mods also installed to prettify it and add some functionality.

Ghokanmoral has released a very nice ver 5.0i of his Siyah kernel last night. For now, it is very stable, but I will can only report on battery life at a later stage

Your advise is very sage..! :D I would also recommend anyone to follow your route who prize stability above all else, but yet want customisation.

CM10 does not quite yet have the stability of CM9 stable release, but I personally still find it very stable (much more than when I was with Resurrection Remix 3.0.9, anyways). For me, CM nightlies, once it has become stable enough for me (as it has by now), provide me with the best value proposition of stability, speed, ease and Android advances. It contains Android 4.1.2., for instance. I can't wait for Android 4.2!

You may find even greater speed with other ROM and kernel combo's, but that involves a lot more...'involvement'. The daily kernel updates, etc...I can't deal with that right now. I trust Cyanogen to provide me with the latest and greatest within my effort limitations :o It's easy to download the latest every few days and follow an easy flash procedure (not using any extended steps or backups everytime).

what the hell is JKay Deluxe?

is it a rom?

Cant Say OK after entering pin

Damn I've got a big problem: I've enabled weather display in lockscreen in ROM control, and now when I reboot my phone, the pin panel doesn't display an OK button at the bottom of the screen because the weather display below the clock takes up too much space, so I can't get past the pin unlock:O

Does anyone have an idea how to get past this?

Yeah it's ROOTBOX, in the PIN unlock screen you can't do things like drop down menu or use the keyboard, so there was nothing to do but restore from backup (luckily I had one from yesterday).

So warning: it's an awesome feature (weather in lockscreen) but do a buckup beforehand and the make sure you can get past pin unlock.

I'm running the new siya kernel just installed it. Has any of you tried it out? Any feedback?

Soooooooooooooooo important to make backups! I normally made them only before a major change and sometimes not at all ... but I must learn from your experience! BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!!

Hoping the rooting will help

Awesome!

I assume one could just flash away, no matter your ROM? I am on CM10 nightlies...

Should work on any JB ROM I guess, don't see anything mentioned about ROM limitations.

SUCCESS!
I was actually able to get CM9 and its awesome
Thanks for all the help

Congrats!

Do you feel like a sooper hacker dude yet?

Make a backup of your new configuration as well, I think...

Going to take a while to get used to... I succeeded in deleting all my apps while trying to get the damn thing into download mode so I first need to get back to wireless and resetup the WHOLE phone eh, issues have gone away

Having trouble with GAPPS and syncing to my google account?

Did you flash the GAPPS zip file whilst in CWM?

In settings, under accounts, did you activate your Google Account? If it is not there, you can tap on 'add account'...
