Yes, I know, not an issue for me, just saying that's possibly a reason for ppl not doin full wipes (restoring and setting up again, even with titanium can be a little annoying sometimes though)
 
I've never been a big fan of custom ROMs, but I also understand it if people want to fiddle with their phones.

I used to be like that, but nowadays I just want a smartphone with a great user experience & spend as much time as I can with family and friends.

My dislike for custom ROMs stem from the fact that most of these one man dev teams just take the current settings of the official ROMs and change it to very aggressive, which means that you get some performance boosts, but always at the expense of poor battery life, or some apps not working at all, or the OS rebooting randomly.

So, if you're one of those flash junkies, I would also suggest getting Titanium Backup Pro or something similar, will just save you a lot of time wasted on re installing all your apps.
 
The new Samsung ROM is really nice. Very smooth and my phone looks like my wife's S3.

I am happy.

Me too, cos now I can stop looking for contracts with a S3 & just enjoy my epic phone once again.

**You do know that when you load the official Samsung Jelly Bean ROM, your S2 becomes a S3 Mini Plus immediately? :p

How's the battery life on jb leak? I'm reading bad news on xda and other places.

And those that are saying the philz kernel has improved the battery life are chops, the author says in clear text in his thread on xda, that his kernels performance and battery life are exactly same as stock kernel.
 
Well, my battery life with the Omega Rom is basically the same as it was on ICS.

If I do not use the phone and don't play with it (very difficult with JB!) I get about a day a half out of the battery. ATM I'm getting around 24hrs from one charge and it is fairly heavy usage.

How much screen on would you say classifies as heavy usage?
 
I really do not even have the faintest idea.

About +/-2 hours of game playing during the day and tinkering with the phone all the time.

The battery life will be a challenge at first, as you now have the Face Stay feature, which uses your front camera to detect if you are still looking at the screen.

And Google Now, which likes to use your GPS to determine your location, hell, even the weather widget uses the GPS.

It will take a bit of time to get used to Jelly Bean and then you can decide if you need the Face Stay feature, etc.

I don't know what heavy usage is, but I play the odd game (well, not the odd game - I play Jetpack Joyride on a daily basis :)), check my Twitter feed several times a day using Plume, have 2 email accounts, one of which is exclusive to my phone, and I like to check on it regularly. Oh, and I use it for Navigation, mostly for traffic on the way home. I have the extended battery, and I get a good 14 hours out of it. I guess I'm a heavy user. ;) (I had similar battery life before JB, which is why I got the extended battery.)
 
Hi guys, been a while since I have been on here... I am using the XXLPS modem, and have tried BVLP7 as well. Both are decent. Just wondering if there are any newer ones that you would recommend?

Untill recently, I used only the LPS modem irrespective the rom on my phone. It has been nothing but stable and never needed to change it. I experimented with a number of modems in the past but the LPS modem gave me the best performance (together with KI4 and KL1). Any one of these did the job perfectly, but I stuck with LPS since it was the latest modem. Now that I use the Sammy JB leak firmware, I just stick to the modem that it came with (XXLS6). It's performance is marginal better than LPS, but it does not warrant flashing it over LPS. I am on VDC. I would hazard a guess that the loss of signal is predominantly a network issue and not a modem issue.

Thanks, I think so too. Have also used a few- KL1, KI4, LPZ etc. Always came back to LPS, regardless of the ROM I used.

And I must admire your ability to handle a Samsung-based ROM- I can't anymore, AOKP has converted me :)
