To each his own. :) It's a pity you can't dual-boot 2.3.x and 4.x. That would be awesome.

I'm gonna keep my S2 on GB, then get the S3 a bit later.

Have looked at many different phones, even the Note 2, but the S3 just feels great in my hand and looks fabulous.

S3 is certainly a great phone.

For those that pointed out the Omega ROM... Thanks!! I'm sorted now. Got the best of all worlds. If I could figure out how to get rid of that multi-view tab...

You're welcome :D

Go to your notification area/toggles panel and scroll to the right; there is a toggle for Multi-Window. Turn it off :)

You wont be able to, the only kernel that works on the leaked JB (which Omega is based on) is philz's kernel.

I actually just found that on my own - came back here to edit my post... too late, she cried... :D

Gingerbread S2 "blast from the past". :D

On the Omega ROM with ALL-IN-ONE mod:

I seem to be missing something since I have the voice record option on the dialpad, but it is greyed out.

Anyone else have this working, and if so, what did you do to get it working.

Where do you see that?

Aah. I thought you meant when one just goes into the dialpad, but you meant when actually dialling a number. Mine's also disabled. I think it's a bug.

Good evening S2 lovers! My Blackberry torch took its last sip of battery today and died completely. A friend of mine heard my whimpering and said I can get her Samsung Galaxy S2 (still brand new and in its packaging) for mahala, gratis, free and vorniet! :)

I have read the last few pages of the forum and I must say I am a total NOOB when it comes to Android and all its trimmings. I've read a lot about ICS and feel it worthwhile to take the new phone up to it...

But... where do I start? What must I download and what can be done to totally mod it in terms of software?

First off, what version is on the phone?

Settings -> About Device - Android version

If it is version 4.0.x then you already have ICS.

If it is version 2.3.x then just install all the relevant software on your PC and update the phone via KIES.

Good evening... me again. I got the phone it is on android 2.3

Herein lies my problem - I downloaded Kies and installed it. Now when I try to run Firmware Upgrade (it does say there is one available) it starts downloading the "firmware upgrade components" but i see in the background that the connection with the phone was lost. When the download reached 100% there is a pop-up on my pc saying that the phones battery is not full and that I must recharge (but the battery is full). Any ideas...?

Oh ja... and the phone is a Vodacom "branded" phone (when I switch on it shows the vodacom logo) is it possible to remove this or even make it a MTN brand?

Get rid if Kies. Use Odin. You will find nice instructions a couple of pages back. Download the fw you want from XDA or Sammobile and flash with Odin. Kies us known to be rubbish.
