Hi guys,

Im still on ICS, and its killing me with the laaaaaag. Im seriously considering flashing it and getting the JB rom that everyone, especially kingrob:D, is super impressed about. Just wondering if i should wait for the official release which they claim to be in Jan 2013 (or is it the one you guys have?) or just do it now? Also, i read that should you need to get the phone fixed you can just revert back to the original ICS and then your warranty will not be void, is this true?

Thanks!

The JB leak isn't the final release but it is almost perfect except for the issue with a buggy lockscreen.

Yes you can just revert back to ICS if you need to send in for repairs, obviously you will still have to be able to access the phones download mode to get the ROM flashed back so if there is a serious issue you may not be able to do this. Also because this is an official release it won't increase the custom binary counter, so you don't need to worry about resetting it.

Definitely worth it if you ask me, who knows how long it will be before we get the official release so may as well enjoy it so long.

Leaked JB is 100% better than ICS (with the exception of battery life). What you wrote is all true, but I have not heard of anyone who was denied warranty repairs because if flashing other kernels/firmwares/roms, etc, but that is your risk. ;)

I'm getting on top of the battery life with Samsung's S2 Jelly Bean ROM now. :)

One or two things that I had to do, but getting the results - and it's good.

First thing to do is make sure your GPS is on - it doesn't take much power, but phone likes it to be on for weather app.

Then you must change the storage location for the camera app from phone to SD card.

And put the phone on WiFi as much as you can, saves a lot of power.

Get the 2000 mAh extended battery, it gives more juice and makes the phone feel ULTRA premium.

As you can see, I cannot put the phone down with JB running on it :

Ahhh i see, thanks a lot for the info guys, really appreciate it. Now just need to do some research and get acquainted with the whole flashing process and give it a go. I am a tad bit nervous because you read all these stories about guys in tears after they've bricked their S2's (id cry as well LOL:whistle:) but after all, we survived the 'end of the world', so this cant be that hard to do:D

Haha you've just made me more excited now,. I basically know what to do, just would like to ask if you guys have any tips? or preferred methods to flash it? and where did you download your version from?

Thanks again:D

You need Odin 3.04 to flash it, 1.85 won't work.

Once you've unzipped the downloaded file, there will be files for CSC, modem, phone and....um...can't remember. :(

Instructions are on Samfirmware's site.

Here is a video tutorial if you want to see it first hand.

It is really easy to flash these official releases though.

Thanks for the tips. I will try it out

Was looking at the 2000mAh batter at the Samsung shop the other day, was very tempted. What's the most I should pay for one?

When you register on kalahari.com, and if you wait a few days they will send you a R35 voucher. That would make the deal R250. But then again, delivery is only free until end of the month so it might be pushing it. Either way, I doubt you'll get it any cheaper. And it only takes 2-3 days.

So worth it!! You will comfortably make a day/even stretch for two days! on the Samsung official JB test rom, with the correct settings.

Why am I more excited about GM's Siyah releases on JB than opening Christmas gifts?
6.0beta3 might be released tonight

What are most of you running at the moment? Stock, custom sammy or aokp/aosp ? Maybe we can get a poll or something going?
