Because most people on MTN have complaints after updating to JB and a sim swap fixes their problems. You might already have the correct sim - maybe you are lucky

What is this "correct" sim?

My dad was also told that his signal problem could be due to old sim?

I think a 128k sim will do. Do a quick search on MyBB and see how others sorted out their issues. There are about 3-4 threads

Bad news for you - you cannot buy the S2 new anymore, as they have stopped production of the phone.

After numerous failed downloads and partial downloads, not is it's my connection or the source, but anyway managed to download the needed files.
Then Struggled with the PC and Samsung Drivers not working after many attempts installing different drivers for the Samsung without Installing KIES, Installed the little Devil and that seemed to have worked...
Made sure to Close/Exit KIES and Stop any KIES Tasks/Processes

Started Odin3 v3.04
Put Phone in Download mode (Volume Down + Home + Power)
Connected USB, It was Added/Detected by Odin sometimes other times had to connect usb 1st then start Odin for it to be added.
Loaded ROM under PDA Option:
I9100XWLSN_I9100XXMS2_I9100OXXLS8_HOME.tar.md5



Then Phone Rebooted after it was done, didn't see any triangle errors.
Powered Off Phone and Started again in Download Mode.

Loaded KERNEL under PDA Option:
PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSN-OXX-4.92.3.tar.md5



Seems all good so far.

LS8 performs just as well as the LPS modem from ICS. Perhaps it is the network having problems?

EDIT: Also, try KL1 or KI4.
