Samsung Galaxy S2

I am currently on SlimRom. I am enjoying it as it is very stable and the battery life is good. With moderate use during the day I am left with about 50% battery at 5.

But I must be honest, I do miss the Samsung firmware with all the added features. I was on the Spain Rom, but for some reason the battery drain was very bad. With the same use as currently, I would have about 15% left by lunch.

So, which custom ROM, based on the Stock Samsung Jellybean firmware would you guys recommend, which is stable and has similar battery life to my current slimrom?

ADe6, what network are you on?

What network you on? Maybe now that somebody else is also reporting the battery drain issue we can see if it's network related.

I'm on Vodacom, wifi is on 8ta.

The phone is on wifi most of the time (work + home), cos my Vodacom HSPA+ signal is poor where I live, and causes severe battery drain.

I also had battery drain issues with 4.1.2 stock (Spanish version), I don't know what causes it but seems to be more common with 4.1.2 roms. I tried Omega which had slightly better battery life but still nowhere near as good as Slim with 4.2.2.

I agree the battery life on Slim is amazing. I think Omega is a good option if you want to keep your Samsung stuff (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489197).

Wow, Omega is more than 600mb!

Also happened on my SIIII when battery drained on 4.1.2 acted funny and almost lost sd card data, Luckilly charge was close at hand.

SII with 4.1.2 Nordic and Philz CWM working good !

Mobile data don't seem to work, but that could be the non 3G MTN Sim card. Like some others have posted.

Hmm, I wonder if it would make a difference if I use the Nordic one instead on my device. I haven't tried that. I must say though that I'm happy as a pig in schit with the Slim bean roms, the only problem is that sometimes the camera can be a bit iffy.

Battery is good though, I'm currently sitting on 1d 14h (two work days) on time, battery is on 7% now and screen time close to 2 hours (1 hour 50 minutes). This is with a standard battery.

Maybe try NeatROM Lite 4.6.1, its Samsung 4.1.2 XWLSN Nordic with all the gunk removed.

I suspect it wont match Slim for battery life though, CM10.1 (also AOSP 4.2.2) is still better on my S2.

Can anyone using SlimRom and the new ABSA app check whether they can login to the app. I keep getting 'failure to link field imei' but under about phone I can see the imei number. I have already linked to my online profile.

Busy installing will let you know.

You guys tear me up inside. Looking at the screenshots and reading about fantastic battery life on 4.2.2, stability on 4.1.2, makes me want to run out and buy another S2 so I can have it all!!

I'm experiencing some weird battery drain on my current SlimROM (4.2.2) build - but only in the afternoons. I get to lunch time with about 60% left (I use my phone as a MiFi), but then it disappears in the afternoon. The other day I lost 30% in 3 hours - while it was plugged into the PC's USB!!

Also had the phone switch off last night, so no alarm this morning. I'm now looking quite seriously at the official ROM again, but I will miss my 4.2 specific features. :(

If I feel motivated enough, I might write a comprehensive powersaving guide for the S2 one day, but for now, here's a quick one :

Disable Application Notifications in the Google Play Store Settings, and just check it once a day. This will stop your phone constantly checking with the Play Store for updates.

This might help users who have got a ton of apps installed, well, basically any amount of apps. :)

Just took delivery and installed a Strontium 64gb MicroSD card.

I've chucked all my music, books, audio books and a few movies and still have 20gb left over.. So much space, so little content :)

Anybody want to spare some HD pron? :D
