So I gave my S2 to my sister today, complete with extended battery and 32GB SD card.

She gave me her S2 (with noticeable wear and tear) to use as my land line phone with an 8ta sim.

Then I took out my brand new spare out of the box, installed Spanish ROM and got a 21MB update from Vodacom straight after that....what is the update supposed to do?

Well, phone is amazingly smooth and fast and the brand new phone feel is priceless!

Did you guys see the trade in deal vodacom is offering now?

Trade in your S2 and pay R369pm for an S4... I wonder what they will do with all the S2s...... hmmmm

I feel like I'm about to cheat on my s2... but it was a good run will always have a soft spot in my heart for my s2 but think I'm going to move on today... the s4 just seems to do things for me the s2 couldn't... :o

It gives blowjobs????

Didn't get the s4:eek: mtn wanted to charge me R550 for a 350 top up contact. Said if I went with a open contact it will cost 499 and come with more data. Why must I be penalized for wanting a top up contact? Plus there call and data is crazy. I'll wait a few months then hello cell c

That's how the networks roll.
Top up contract will ensure that you manage your airtime to your budget. They don't want this; they'd much rather you have an open ended contract

I agree with you on the Top Up side. I'm also wanting to upgrade to an S4 on Top Up but battling to find a decently priced package with Vodacom. Their Smart packages are an option but then I'll end up paying extra if a SMS or phone anyone other than an ordinary local number. I want one fixed price per month which is why I love Top Up.

I did look at the Cell C offer, but decided against it when seeing the data service friends of mine get in the more outlying areas. In the big citie it is great, but the moment you go out a little (ie out near Hartbeespoort in JHB) it drops to Edge or even goes to Roaming :wtf:

Vodacom may be expensive but I generally have good reception with them.
So in the end we are stuck between a rock and another hard rock :p

S4 at FNB (comes with Straight up 100) + 500MB data bundle = R299 + R75 = R374. Just saying ;)

Yeah, in rather remote areas, Cell C usually go onto roaming. EDGE on Cell C is actually rather good, better than the 3G service I receive on Vodacom.

But yes- no network operator is perfect, unfortunately...

question : the best way to "reset" a battery memory/stats so it reports correctly?

did a bit of googling and got conflicting answers...

The S2's battery chip is in the battery. No amount of apps will "reset" it. Best you can do is to charge it full. Take it out for 5 mins, put it back in and immediately charge to full again. But not even that should not make a noticeable difference.
