Firstly - i have been using CM10.2 (Jelly Bean 4.3) for the past 2 weeks and i must say its been very stable. Am running the nightlies and for everyday use it works great. Battery life is better than CM10.1 imo which is always a bonus.

Second - I recently discovered this app CyanDelta. Previously i would download the ENTIRE nightly whenever i wanted to upgrade (+/- 150MB) but this app has totally changed that. It checks periodically for updates and only downloads the changed / updated components. So now instead of upgrading once or twice a month i am able to do so every few days as each update is between 5 and 20MB depending on the size of the update. Can't believe i survived so long without it

Running pretty smoothly and not many issues so far. Only issues I have are:

- Video camera when using 3rd party apps like VIne, Instagram and CMs Focal doesn't work and crashes the camera, restart required to get camera working again. This comes from 10.1 too though and is related to a driver thing as I believe Samsung never made the source available for the S2.
- Buggy display on some Google apps, the toolbar at the top disappears when scrolling. Pics:

- Landscape rotation bug in WhatsApp conversations.


Haven't found anything else to really bug me though.

Battery life has been quite good, currently I have everything turned on (e.g. Location services, history, Google Now) and battery is slightly better than stock 4.1.2 with everything turned off. I mean it's easy a full days moderate usage with all the location services enabled, I still need to test to see how much more I can get out when disabling them.

The camera functionality is quite screwed - especially with Focal. But I agree, other that, and some GPU issues, CM 10.2 is great!
 
I love the font of this widget. So you guys know how to apply a font system wide?

Running CM10.2 rooted.

So my S2 just spontaneously died today. Appears to be a not uncommon issue which requires the motherboard to be replaced. My desire is still going strong and I'm sitting with 2 broken S2s (one with screen cracked and water damage, other one being this brick).

A sad day indeed. :(
 
Totally not content with the latest stock update recently at first it seriously was a learning curv now I feel like just breaking the phone in half as many changes were down with the UI etc, but a lot of added new features before it was a little more simplified to access certain features. (Must be all the apple pattern crap) that is why they had to do a complete revamp.

I did the official update from 4 to 4.1. Nothing really changed imo.
 
Question: If I would to use the firmware from sammobile. Which kernel would I use with that? And where would I get it?

Currently on Slim Bean 8.0 (4.2.2).
 
if you flash the fw from sammobile you should get the new kernel
if you want a another kernel. philz is the one you should use

only with odin if you getting the fw from sammobile
dude if you rooted already.just install a custom rom based on 4.1.2? neatrom is good, omega?
that way you keep root and you will have philz kernel

Had a quick look at the neatrom, looks kinda... neat. :)
