I'm very tempted to tell you to root and try other modems. Though I know its a new toy and its a big step. I've been switching modems for a while now and some are really terrible.

Again. Good luck sorting it out. Enjoy your weekend.

I just ordered the official galaxy s2 cover from takealot. Looks good, what are your opinions

I know this post is almost a month old but the thread is pretty long to search through :) but how long did it take for them to deliver? Have never really used takealot.

How would rooting my phone help?

I'm not really afraid of rooting it, although I'd like to return the the phone first if it's a problem specific to my phone :/

There are some posts somewhere in this thread covering the benefits of rooting.

I have returned devices that have been rooted and with custom Roms and kernels loaded.
If you ate truly concerned, then you can unroot and reload your original Rom. If you have an outright hardware failure and cannot go back well they won't know it is rooted anyway :)

Excellent. I didn't understand that before, sorry :) I will try and root tomorrow if I have time (gotta read up on the whole how-to process etc lol)....thanks

Rooting your phone gives you the opportunity of trying different modems from different countries and firmware releases.

Flashing a different modem can help with wifi issues, 3G and call problems. My phone came stock with KE7 - I had intermittent reception and weak signal over 3G. Untill I rooted that evening and began testing out different modems. I'm now on KH3 and have no problems with any connections.

...survived. Just getting Titanium Backup before I flash 2.3.4 (even though it says I won't lose data, but nice for the future) and start scouting for other modems :) Thanks again

I hope I'm answering correctly by saying KG2? Downloaded CF-root for KG2 and rooted again. Now getting rid of the triangle.

Has anyone had problems with email after flashing to 2.3.4? I've rooted as well, but I'm not sure that's the problem. I have a gmail and Microsoft Exchange account. Everything used to work fine (was using Social Hub). Now all my emails are missing, and it won't connect to either accounts. If I go through the Gmail app, it works fine. But Social Hub seems to be a problem. When I try to check my Exchange account, it says "connection error" when trying to refresh.

In fact, last night my phone went a bit bonkers after I rooted + flashed 2.3.4. Woke up at 6am to find that it had used 20mb of data (WTF??) and my battery was half depleted. Checked the usage stats and it showed Email as the killer. I took a screeny, will try upload it.

Any of this sound familiar? Help/suggestions please? :( Searched Google but nothing really specific came up.

edit: I have tried deleting Exchange acc, adding it with different settings, etc, but it just seems to be getting worse! Now it doesn't even refresh or give an error. All is blank.
