Samsung Galaxy S2

Definitely. You can't go wrong with the S2!
Though the HTC One X and S3 look great as well. (just something to consider :D)

S3 won't be here for months still...
Am considering the One X. It's mostly a trade off between contract prices on S2 vs OneX...

EDIT:
Looking at the direct comparison on GSM Arena, I actually think the SII is a better deal than the OneX.
OneX has no memory card slot. It does have a way superior display though, but the quad core is most likely going to be an overkill. Just don't need it

You should be able to run it if you use an app like Hide Root or something similar...

Anyone here have a white SII?
What does it look like in the flesh?
Since I might be getting a new SII, was considering the white one as a change - just worried that it might show scratches more easily, and also might look a little too 'girlie'.

I have one and it looks great. It's not prone to fingerprint marks like a black phone. I look after mine like a baby so it doesn't have any scratches on it yet, so don't know if they will show more or not.

Edit: I'm getting a lot of compliments and what phone is that from friends and colleagues simply because it's something different. ;)

Do a lot of people actually remove and insert different SD cards? I thought I would, but I actually don't...and I don't think I want to. Just personally, I can discount that is a 'missed' feature.

Quad core probably is overkill, but what do the tests say? Does the phone run faster than the S2?

I find that working with a Google Doc within the Google Drive app is not super quick and smooth in the S2 (though still satisfactorily), perhaps it will be better in the One X.

Even though I am so happy with the S2, it has surpassed my wildest dreams, I find myself lusting after a bigger screen...

I'm glad HTC stepped back up to the plate.

I find having a card slot incredibly usefull. The phone came out with a 1GB card and I immediately upgraded to 8GB just to find it was not big enough for me and now have a 32GB. So in total I have 48GB. I don't swop cards, I just found having a SD card slot is great for increasing memory.

Where did you get the card and how much did out cost

I got it from New World in Menlyn ... they have two 32GB speeds - 4 and 6 rated. The 4 rated on was about R400 and the 6 rated about R850. I shudder to think what the 10 rated card would cost.

Did you get the class 4 or 6 card?
Is it fast enough for HD video recording? Or do you record to internal memory?

I got the class 6 card. And just tested recording and playback from both the sd and internal memory. I can not pick up any differences. I would say the best practice would be to record to internal memory and then move to sd card and if the recording is going to be lengthy, then go straight for the sd card.

I asked here which 32GB card people have and it was reported that the class 4 is fine. My wife got me the class 6. I can not advise which one to go for, but I guess I will not get a 16-32GB which is less than class 6. Below 16GB I would go for the cheaper option, but not lower than class 4

What would you guys recommend as a good ICS Rom, I've tried theByani's rom but the camera is a bit broken at the moment, I'm looking for one with stock ICS theme (although i guess i could run a launcher if need be) but still has the samsung clock, music player and contacts installed.

Then you're better off with the official ROMs, and something like GO Launcher EX / ICS launcher / Launcher Pro / ADW Launcher Ex.

I think Apex Launcher gives a very good stock ICS experience. It comes with Resurrection Remix ROM, which is awesome, but it doesn't have the samsung clock, music player and samsung contacts installed. Its own alternatives are very good though. The music player it comes with even downloads the lyrics and shows them as you go along in the song. The contacts app is very nice, though you don't get to swipe left or right for call or sms, which I miss. You can get more beautiful clocks by downloading Beautiful Widgets (from GetJar marketplace for free)...

I don't switch around micro SD cards, but I do use mine to move data via an SD card reader (much faster and easier than plugging the phone cable in).
The phone does run faster than the S2 AFAIK, but we're talking parts of milliseconds in terms of response time.

Guys im trying to load ICS using Odin thanks to Jacques blog post. When Odin is doing the MD5 check it seems that Odin just freezes up, and shows the good ol "program is not responding".

Could It be that I have a funky ICS.tar? When I unzip the main ICS folder it creates a .tar.md5 file which is 0mb in size. Could this be the problem?

I was thinking about that but as far as I know they don't with the 15 toggles option like in thebyani's rom.

I will check out resurrection rom, it might be possible to get the apk for some samsung applications but I find the alternatives to samsung contacts don't have all the features I'm used to
