So I assume all I need to do is download the SiyahKernel SGS2 v3.3.2 from the gokhanmoral.com site (the one that says CWM recovery) and just install that zip the same way I did the cyanogen?

All the guides say to use Odin and some other stuff but if I can do it via CWM that would be nice because I'm already used to it.

Yip correct. Also download Extweaks from market to adjust settings.

I tried pegasusq on all three options. It was okay, but like I said, too much battery drain. Others are complaining about freezes and reboots, so I will wait.

Yeah, battery performance was poor and I also experienced the freezing issue.
I tried the default which was pegasus on active, hyper on charger and scary on screen off, also ondemand on all three and pegasus on all three, no improvement. Will also wait for a stable release.

Do these tests though and see if the problem suffices and note it down/take photo/etc.?

Also, if you really want to eliminate all varialbles from the equation, then completely wipe all data from your phone. I mean everything, System partition, Data, Cache, etc. Google how to do that. Then see if the problem still shows up. If it does, then you are SOL. Return time.

I'd like to try some other ICS ROM than CM9 that can dual boot with Siyah. Any recommendations?

I'm actually looking for something stripped down and basic. My main concern is battery life

I thought all the roms are stripped down. CM9 is - you have to load gapps in order to get some apps back.
There are a number of roms you can try - Wanamlite, Ressurection Remix, NEAT, Foxhound ...
 
Idea anyone know of a piece of software that will enable the data every 5 minutes or so to sync mail ,etc then switch it off again?

I'm trying Neatrom at the moment. I flash it to my 2nd ROM using CWM, and it seems to work, except that I lost my root :(.

I flashed Siyah kernel again, but still no root on my 2nd ROM (primary ROM still has root). Even tried flashing Siyah to just the 2nd ROM again - still no root. However, if I go About Phone, it does display Siyah 3.3.2 is my kernel. Y U NO ROOT?!

Neatrom is very close to stock ROM, but others have confirmed that it works with Siyah kernel.
Any ideas?

Try Juice Defender - http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.latedroid.juicedefender. It switches data/other battery drainers on/off. Or Llama - http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kebab.Llama - it does lots of other phone management as well, based on different conditions.

I'm currently trying out My Data Manager - http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobidia.android.mdm - to limit the phone's overall data usage. It can display usage according to 3G and/or Wi-Fi, as well as impose daily/monthly download limits (by alerting you or actually switching off data) according to your particular price plan.
