Samsung Galaxy S3

So I just updated to the latest JB release and it's awesome. Much smoother and I love the fact that it retains all of my apps and data. The one thing I'm a little unsure about is the recommended changing of the CSC. I have no idea if this is beneficial in any way or necessary? I see it wipes my apps and data so I'd prefer not to. A little guidance here would be appreciated...

JB rocks, well done!
What's your current CSC? You can type in the CSC ussd code into your phone, it will warn you about wiping, then show you your current CSC. If you exit without making changes, nothing will be wiped. It's an easy way to check what you're on. There might be an app you can use to check it, but beware, some of them cause soft bricks, the ussd code is safer.
Basically, it alters only your service provider built in stuff. So being on VC CSC would mean a VC boot up screen, maybe a special app that VC wants to push to their users etc. Sticking to XFA in South Africa (generic Samsung ZA CSC) is probably the best. However, changing it now will not really make a difference to your experience.

What's the ussd code?
 
I changed my CSC and flashed the XFA Rom some time ago. I still have the Vodacom boot logo. Do I need to wipe first?

PS: Cannot recall the USSD code for CSC now.

I found the USSD code. It is *#1234# for those who were asking.

My CSC is I9300OXFDLI1. I have no idea what that means...

Back up your phone first.
 
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement back cover for the S3 (Pebble blue)? Expansys doesn’t seem to stock any.
 
My S3 back cover I bought from MTN when I got my S3, with a front cover included. About R300. I suppose you can remove the front cover if you want to.

From Samsung shops. They're about R100. I got a blue one to make my phone Marble Blue. Or Pebble White, depending on the angle you look from.

bought one today from cellclinic.co.za, email them for a request, overnight delivery, great service, was R280 inc delivery. (accredited samsung repair centre)

Where did you get the jb rom from?

Bugger! Bugger! Bugger! My 3 month old Galaxy S3 has died.

Screen switched off and the blue LED was still blinking. Couldn't get the screen on, so I did a battery pull. And now? It won't swtich on at all.

I have already attempted a hard reset, but not joy. My guess is something on the motherboard as damaged the power button (I hope that is all).

Anyway, off to the Samsung mediclinic for my phone :cry:

Mine also around 3 months (5 Aug) and I got a straight swap out there and then (on Monday) and my only problem was battery drain was excessive no matter what I did. I am sure you will be able to do the same. Take it to the shop you got it from.
 
Quick question. Does the S3 come with a SD or Micro SD card? If not, what kind should I get for it? Class 4? Normal cheap 16GB?
