Samsung Galaxy S3

Received mine this morning! Yay :D

Do what I wish someone told me when I first got mine: flash Omega and buy ROM Toolbox Pro. That'll give you Samsung's Jelly Bean, the ability to remove any bloatware you don't like, total system backup and total control. Buy Power Amp for your music player (get the 2 week free trial if you need convincing). Use QuickPic as your gallery (much better than stock). If you want to store pics you wouldn't want others to see get Vaulty. Flipboard is the best news reader and Tapatalk is compulsory if you browse forums regularly. And use SwiftKey 3 for your keyboard.

@Badprop_za, while I have no doubt you will wish to customise your phone, I suggest getting used to it (if you're new to Android) before replacing rom's or buying apps that you may not need. Get a feel for it and you'll soon know what you prefer or want for yourself. Enjoy it!

I pretty much agree but would change SwiftKey to Swype. Tap tap tap is so old school and meant for physical keyboards. :)

You seem hard on your phones... ;) What is the issue?

Damn you having some rotten luck Mike. What is wrong with the camera?

So what now? Return it for a new one? Maybe you should ask them for a Note 2, citing a lack of confidence in the S3 as your motivation.

Got my replacement this AM. Autopage Bedfordview are really really good. Def getting my next phone from them.
I tried to get the Note 2 but not allowed to do that unfortunately.

Third time lucky ? :)

Check the camera first ;)

Obviously it's a personal preference, but there's a reason SwiftKey is by far the most popular keyboard on the Play store and currently the number one paid app. It's exceptional.

Yeah, after speaking praises about Swype I tried out SwiftKey and eventually bought the bugger! It's epic.

Which Launcher do you guys prefer? I've been using the Touchwiz for a while now and don't really have problems. I think it crashed on me 3 or 4 times in the past 2 weeks.

Is Nova Launcher the obvious replacement?

I use nova launcher prime. Love it. I tried several others, nova gave me what I wanted.

Nova and Apex are great. I used GO launcher as well for a while, that's also nice but currently on Apex

In so far as launchers are concerned, I've been using Apex Launcher Pro for a while (it worked very well on ICS but became buggy with the first couple of releases of JB, now its perfect) and I've used SlideIT for a keyboard since I bought my 1st Android phone.

I picked up Nova Prime for R2.07 during the sale. It's not bad, but the fact that it can't display two lines of text under each app means the majority look stupid with cut-off names. Some can be renamed but generally that doesn't help. The awesome S3 weather widget isn't available in Nova and Beautiful Widgets was a big disappointment as a replacement. I realised the only thing I really like about Nova are the cool scroll effects, but that's not enough to put up with its other shortcomings.

I've never tried Apex. I'll give it a shot sometime.
