Replaced and disabled Touchwiz with Holo Launcher HD.

Latest quadrant score was 5830.

The phone is flying now with great battery life.

Made some omissions and additions. Much much much faster.

All share services: need this to play on xbmc
Nfc: assume I need that for s beam (use it a lot)
Wi-Fi direct: use that a lot (plus s beam)

I'm impressed. I popped into the repairers today to drop the phone off. They said they're quiet, can I wait. 30 minutes later I had my phone back, good as new. Stoked.

Just a pity it cost R2k. I've seen unwanted S3 upgrades on Gumtree for not much more than R4k.

Sure but it cost me only R250 though, insurance took care of the rest.

Give them a call and ask, and hope that someone there knows what the hell fast dormancy is.

Yes, the glass only. It is one unit. He showed me my old unit after having done the replacement. A few screws and a few ribbon connectors and new screen and digitizer is on.

According to @Vodacom111, Vodacom does in fact use fast dormancy on their network. So that might explain why I seemed to have better battery life when it was (erroneously) left on.
