Yup,you will essentially be paying R100 for the straight up contract, plus R8400/x where x is the contract term.

I'm sure I will be able to make a full day on one charge if I try really hard but who wants to use battery saving mode so save battery if you can rather use your phone to it's full extent?

Anyone using NFC tags should consider installing the following mod, which allows your phone to read NFC tags even when the screen is off - which doesn't happen by default.

Seems to be resolved with the update. AND OFFLINE MAPS!
 
My S3 can't connect to 3G (or 2G). I can send and receive smses and phone calls just fine, and I have mobile data enabled with the MTN MMS and GPRS settings saved. MTN's helpline gave me the manual settings, but after I push 'save' it returns to the previous screen without saving the settings. They said this is because I'm using a cut sim card and not a proper micro sim. Has anyone had an issue like this? I'm at my beach house and can only visit MTN on Monday - this is very inconvenient and doesn't make sense. My step-dad's iPhone 4s uses a cut sim card and has no problems.

Unless you damaged the SIM when cutting there shouldn't be an issue.

I sliced up my SIM when I got the S3 and I've not had any issues with it.
 
I'm 99% sure it's not because of the "cut" sim. I use a micro Sim in my S3. The sim in my iPhone 4S is one I cut myself and it works without no problem.

Why did you have to manually enter the settings? Mine worked out of the box.

The MTN store in Cape Gate is selling the SIM cutter so I'm sure they won't sell it if a "cut" sim doesn't work properly.

I used a sim cutter on my step-dad's iPhone 4s and it worked fine. Did the same with my sim card and it seemed to work fine until I left the house and didn't have wifi. I don't even get the mobile network icon that I used to get with my previous Android phone. I examined my cut sim card and it looks like the one side was cut along the gold border, not after it like with my step-dad's iPhone. Could that somehow cause internet connectivity issues? My S3 is from Cellucity, so it has Vodacom wallpapers and stuff - but the staff insisted that the phone was not network locked.

The MTN helpline assistant said that the S3 can't use the automatic settings that are received via SMS. So I followed the manual instructions but my phone wouldn't store the entry once I hit save.

MTN implied over the phone that they will exchange my sim for a micro sim on the spot. Does it actually take a week?!

No way in hell Expansys will send you anything in a week. They'll take 2 months and keep on telling you it's stuck in France. Do a bit of research before buying anything from them.

I hope you don't plan on travelling any time soon then :whistle:

The poster I quoted said he doesn't want to wait a week so I don't think he'd be too happy with their delivery times.
