Samsung Galaxy S3

yes did that as well. Well the when I click on settings in messages it links me to the same settings screen found in the general settings.

Rom Toolbox Lite is free and can freeze apps.

I used it for exactly the same problem when I had CM.

its the best decision you will ever make, it just makes the phone insanely fast with beautiful android. I also installed the sense 5 theme which just changes the icons and dialer and messaging... nice difference :)
Thank you kindly :) I must just get hold of a working SD card to proceed.

Nadimm.. For stability and knowing that everything works fine and also not having to mess around with nightlies

Ok. But the nightlies on cm11 are probably more stable then cm10.2 M. Once he has the hang of it, should definitely check it out. Temasek v18 + Banks gapps = no problems yet.

No problem at all with Whatsapp.

Interesting. Here is what I am referring to:
WhatsApp is crashing when using ART (Android RunTime)

Currently, ART does not support WhatsApp. This is an issue with the way that ART verifies apps, not with WhatsApp. WhatsApp will still function properly in Dalvik.

If you attempted to re-install WhatsApp in ART, your /data/data/ directory may have a latent com.whatsapp folder left behind from the failed install that will prevent you from installing WhatsApp again. Android does not have any UI exposed to resolve this issue. Currently the only known way to remove this file is to either delete the file (only possible if your phone is rooted), or to reset your device to factory defaults.

Strange, never had an issue and use WhatsApp regularly.

Edit: Just run through all my Apps and its only Strava & Xposed Installer that doesn't seem to be working.

Here you go sir.

Root : http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/how-to-root-your-samsung-galaxy-s3-50008588/

Download CM10.2 : http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=stable&device=i9300
download Gapps: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip

Xda link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2382573

Copy both of those into the root folder of your phone.

Once rooted, boot into recovery mode by Home & Volume Up & Power.

Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the physical volume buttons to move up and down. On most devices, the power button is used to confirm your selection, although for some devices the power button is used as a "back" button to go up one level, in which case the home button is used to confirm the selection.

then (goto advanced and select "Install update from SD Card")
- Flash CM10.2 zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot) -- this is done in recovery mode.
- Reboot
Thanks for this. Been running stock firmware rooted for the last year.

Glad I came across this post. Installed yesterday :D

This ROM is just pure awesome and super fast. I'm running Nova launcher though instead on the stock Trebuchet.

Can you please provide a link to the sense 5 theme?

Thanks

How's the battery life??

Still enjoying CM 10.2. Feels like I have a new (better) phone :D

Haven't been through a full charge yet, will report back.

Was getting less than a day on the stock ROM, one of the main reasons for changing to CM.

On stock rom mine lasted longer than a day and I always used it for whatsapp. When I switched to CM 10.2 snapshot there was a significant battery drain. Then I switched over to carbon rom and now my battery is lasting me a full day of use. But let me know how the battery life is on a full charge.

urgent help

So i think i bricked my phone :/
somebody help. please, had cynangen mod 10.2 running, then decided to switch back to stock 4.1.2. Tried loading it on straight from the SD which wouldn't work. then decided to do it using Odin following a tutorial. Now my phone only boots into recovery mode (Standard android not the cyanagen one) spends most of the time showing the android with its stomach open and a red exclamation mark sign.

UPDATE
All working, hard to reflash with Odin twice to get it to work, and then even on the second time i had to pull the battery out and put it back in. Last time i attempt to flash my phone before i leave early the next day for a weekend away
