Samsung Galaxy S3

So i think i bricked my phone :/
somebody help. please, had cynangen mod 10.2 running, then decided to switch back to stock 4.1.2. Tried loading it on straight from the SD which wouldn't work. then decided to do it using Odin following a tutorial. Now my phone only boots into recovery mode (Standard android not the cyanagen one) spends most of the time showing the android with its stomach open and a red exclamation mark sign.

UPDATE
All working, hard to reflash with Odin twice to get it to work, and then even on the second time i had to pull the battery out and put it back in. Last time i attempt to flash my phone before i leave early the next day for a weekend away

I think your mistake was not doing a full wipe before changing roms.

Also you should've pulled the battery on the boot loop and then waited a minute. Then try and get back into recovery manually.

So the majority here uses CM... What makes these okes so special? I used to use them but their sound quality is always ****e. I use Omega ROM's mostly (touchwiz based) but the ram usage is always high, can't even browse sometimes without LMK killing firefox. How is CM's ram usage and sound quality now?

KitKat is designed for low ram usage specifically for older phones. CM11 addresses two pain pints of the s3. Ram and speed. If sound quality is your biggest gripe try temasek with a temasek custom kernel.

I used Omega for a year. Best touchwhiz based rom. But its still touchwhiz which is junk.

I installed temasek's cm11 with pagapps. I can't restore my helium backup. Anyone experience this? How did you resolve this?

I searched but can't find a solution

Update
Ok it was certain apps that were failing, had to restore apps individually.
The only minor issue I have now is that even though I restored my messaging store I can't get back all my SMS's.
Is there a way I can manually copy this via the Helium Backup?

Another Cracked Screen

So after 18 months being unscathed i dropped my phone and the screen shattered. Biggest problem though is that the power button seems to be sticky causing random reboots. Very annoying. Using a virtual button at the moment, but it takes a few tries to get the phone on without rebooting. (Which is also causing a soft reset each time  )

Anyone know what the going price to get it fixed is?
Also anyone try a self repair? Where did you get the

Thanks. I see that the replacement glass kit is 8usd on eBay. So I'm going to try that first. Probably get a new power button too.

Updated and installed the Open 4.3 android software. Not sure what open means, but its the fixed UK version of the 4.3 update. My god its good. Ok, not as good as the rooted versions, but its good enough for bloated touch wiz. Battery life is fantastic, i get 11-12hours of usage. There is also no unlock lag screen issues or anything like that. It works.

How is the speed compared to cyanogenmod??

Did u just flash the rom using cwm?? Or did u do it using Odin??... Looking forward to installing this firmware. I'm currently on carbon rom.

Obviously with the touchwiz the ram usage is going to be higher. The Apps are definitely a lot faster on CM thats given. However this 4.3 is definitely faster than any other original out there i.e. 4.1.2, 4.2.2. I had the leaked 4.3 with all the issues. This one is 100x better. tbh, if you have CM going to original will be a let down. Only reason im using original is because im trying to sell my S3.

As for your second question, i flashed it with Odin :).

Thanks man. Was just trying to get better battery life because with custom roms the battery life isn't as good as it will be with an official rom.

Did you have wipe?

Sorry if you mentioned it already.

No wipe needed.I updated mine and two other S3 with the MK6 update no wipe needed. I used odin and followed the same instructions in flashing your phone also rooted it no problem. Running fine two days later

Thanks. Downloaded the file two days ago just didn't feel like installing all my apps again.

It wiped my phone >.< Just installed with Odin as per the instructions.

Quite bummed to be honest, lost some game saves.

Did you not accidentally wipe everything? Odin shouldn't have wiped it as far as I know. I just plugged my phone in straight using recovery mode. Used pda attached my tar file and clicked start. 5 minutes later and it was done no loss of any data

I hate this about flashing roms ! Also lost most of my game progress after flashing CM on Friday. I backed up the data + apps using Rom toolbox, but it does not seem to restore the game progress...

How do you guys normally backup game data?

I've tried searching but I can't find the answer. Has anyone replaced their cracked S3 screen lately in Cape Town? If so, where and how much?
