Finally upgraded to the latest CM nightly this evening. I was on the last 10.2 and wasn't keen because a full restore is a bit of a mission. Well damn, my phone is noticeable faster than before and battery life has clearly improved. Should have done this ages ago. The transparent notification bar is nice too.

I've never cared for stable releases. In almost two years with CM I think I've had maybe three nighties ever give an issue. And the issues were pretty minor anyway.

Hmm, cool.

Which version of CWM are you using, btw?

The latest non-touch one. I used the free ROM Manager app on the Play Store to update it. I should probably buy the paid version sometime.

I've never used ROM Manager. Can you do pretty much everything with it that you need to do to install a custom ROM?

Everything other than rooting, yeah. And only with the paid version. The reviews suggest that you're better off just using the official CM update utility though, because ROM Manager is slow as hell.

Finally received done firmware update on my GS3 I9305, but it was only around 150mb. It downloaded and did it's thing, but I'm still on 4.1.2.

Any ideas? VC phone..

A few months ago I received an update for my S3 I9300, about 68mb, and I'm also still on 4.1.2, so I'm not sure what that was all about.

As has been mentioned many times, just download the latest stock firmware from sammobile.com and flash it yourself.

Just checked, still on 4.1.2 for South Africa (Vodafone) on Sammobile. :(

I wouldn't know. Only used the stock firmware for the month after the phone released.

Put Cyanogenmod on if you want your phone to be as good as it can be.

Anyone experiencing major battery life issues? As in I get 7 hours tops off fully charged (no excessive usage a all).

I'm running the latest Cyanogenmod.

No, my battery life is good on the nightlies. How old is your phone? Might just need a new battery. You could also install BetterBatteryStats for more info.

My S3 is starting to die. My screen malfunctioned and only the green OLEDs were on for a few minutes after I unlocked the phone. The screen is okay now.
My phone has also started to reboot all of the time and sometimes gets very warm.

I got it as it came out here. My battery's manufacture date is 22/05/2012.
It will be the last Samsung phone I buy for a while. The build quality is not that great and my battery is also dying.

It has been unplugged for 6 hours and 15 minutes and my battery is at 15% after 1:13:56 of screen on time.
I'm on stock 4.3 unrooted. I'm going to wait and see what Apple does before I get another new phone.

I had that issue. Replaced the battery and managed almost 24hours with little to medium usage!
