Mine is saying the same thing.

Is there an easy way to get 4.3 on an S3?

Backup all your data (cause the phone WILL be reset) and take it to a Samsung repair centre. Takes about an hour, no cost.

To be perfectly honest, the 4.3 update sucks. The phone is sluggish and battery drain is terrible. I rolled back to 4.1.2.

have you tried a hard reset after the update? i know its a pain but it might make it a bit faster
otherwise i see a custom rom NeatRom lite,, that one should be much faster than the official update( it has the bloatware removed)

Do a factory reset after you've updated.

I know it's a pain in the butt, but the difference was day and night on my Note 2.

How did you manage to roll back to 4.1.2, as you get a new bootloader with 4.3?

Cross post from cyanogenmod thread, the as I'm more likely to find my answer here..

With my S3, I've been on CM 11 M3 for a month and just moved to M4- with no change in gapps. Everything seems fine.

I updated my wife's S2 to CM 11 M4 from 10.3 or something- this required a gapps update, to 20140105 .

My S3 is still on kk-20131208. Should I update that?

How often are the gapps updated? This is the first time I've seen a new gapps for the same CM (11).

TIA.

How do you backup all data, i.e. SMSes etc...?

The GAPPS should update automatically through the Play store once you start your phone if they do need an update. As far as I'm aware the initial GAPPS package just gets you going, and potentially can provide apps your phone might not have under stock ROM.
