Samsung Galaxy S3

The problem is that not everyone buys a phone outright, often the Samsung contract deals are better than the LG/HTC contract deals.
Not when you consider that you get far more "minutes" and data tacked with a better device than a samsung. If you could get the same offered with a Samsung then why would anyone buy this generic lucky packet range of phones ? Yet they do. Suckers is the only conclusion. Worse phone. Worse deal. Most popular choice. Good deal ? People are idiots.

Thought this was the S3 thread? What is with the Samsung hate and comparing it to current LG phones?

He's broken, trolling every single thread with the word Samsung in the name. I guess the constant singing and drunkenness finally caused some brain damage, it was bound to happen.

A while back Telkom mobile was offering a S4 with 100 minutes, 5GB data @ R369. Please tell me where I can get such or a better deal at the same or lower price? I would like to sign on the dotted line...

Going the prepaid route with a LG G2 for comparison sake.
LG G2 @ R5000 = 208.3 x24 months
2GB data with Telkom mobile = R150 (promo)
R70 airtime (lets say this is roughly 100 anytime minutes .75c per minute peak).
= 428.3 per month for the G2

pros for the G2 deal:
better speced phone
not bound by 24 month contract

pros for the s4 deal:
cheaper (R60 per month)
MUCH more data
adh
no need to fork out R5k up front (interest)

Was anyone an idiot for taking the S4 deal?

Why compare a g2 to a s4 ? Compare it to an s5. Apples and apples.

Then what does the G3 get compared to from Samsung?

Nothing, it's absolutely too awesome too compare with anything else, don't you know? Just like the naaiPhone it innovated the universe itself :p

is this debate still going on?

btw, when is official kitkat firmware for S3 being released?
Specifically the I9305, the normal I9300 isn't getting it from what i read.

Does any one have a link to a vanilla like rom. Something with Google Launcher as the only launcher available. All the AOSP roms I see is based on slimrom and it has Nova as the default launcher which I can not uninstall.

Hi all. I am wondering if anyone can help me with regards to my Samsung Galaxy S3.

I just bought a second hand S3. It has Android version 4.1.2. When i tried searching for updates, it said it was modified. I then did some research, and finally used Triangle Away and got it back to official status. When i hold the Down volume, Home and Power button, then push up volume, it shows that its now official and no longer custom. Now it searches for updates, but does not actually pick up any updates. I downloaded the Phone Info App for Playstore.
There it shows this info...

Original CSC Code: XFV
Firmware's CSC Code: XFV
Active CSC Code: XFV
CSC Country South Africa

But the Firmware info shows the
Bootloader version: I9300XXEMA2
Baseband Version: I9300XXELLA
PDA Version: I9300XXEMA2
CSC Version is I9300OJVEMA1 and OJV is Bahrain.

Also the Product Code says: Not Active.

I am confused as to why it is not picking up any later updates.

Not sure if anyone can help. I have factory reset it, Unrooted it blah blah blah. No luck.

Thanks

Go to Sammobile and choose the Vodacom one then flash it via Odin. That will put you one the newest South African version.

shoo, so i assume most ppl will be upgrading either sooner or later, been a long run with the S3s :)
