I didn't say anything about when you got yours, only when it was released. Although it seems I was a bit out, it was only 2 and a third years ago.

The Nokia runs Symbian, which is in no way a good thing. That's like telling me that a 486 running DOS is way better than a brand-new Core i7 PC running Windows 7 . You were making fun of that thing being released as a supposed "copy" of the SIII, I just pointed out that some people actually think that kind of hardware is not only viable competition, but somehow better. It's funny, and the only way you can't see that, is if you're a Nokia employee or something.

Are you high? You tell me the hardware is good, I tell you I had a phone with that hardware and you tell me it's an old phone even though the clone was just released....

Not sure what you on about with Nokia phones. I was referring to the linked ANDROID phone and the corresponding hardware vs the phone I have now. Who cares what Nokia releases as a flagship?

Seriously, how much more simple can I make this?

1. Someone pointed out a fake GSIII being sold. (Post 684)
2. You made a comment about how crappy the hardware is, and rightly so (Post 691)
3. I pointed out jokingly that some people (Nokia) still produce a new phone with similar hardware and the fanboys claim it's better than a GSIII (692)
4. You said you had similar specs on a Desire (693)
5. I said sure, but the Desire was released a few years ago (698)

Then it got silly. Yes, the Desire had great hardware for its time. So did the Nokia 3310. So did a ZX Spectrum. What seems to be getting lost here is : it's not that time anymore. Phone CPU's, GPU's etc. have vastly improved over the last 2 years. Releasing a brand new phone with specs that might have been good 2 years ago and an OS that might have been good 6 years ago to compete with new, high-end stuff is silly. It's made even more silly by the army of fanboys claiming that it's actually better than said new stuff.

So in short: You laugh at crappy hardware. I point out the adsurdity that some people consider that same stuff mega-awesome. Today. In 2012. Then you act all indignant and confused like I'm speaking ancient Greek. I don't know why though. Thats's all it was.

Yesterday i saw that you used waze everyday. I tried it this morning on my way to work. Nice app, but the routes it was suggesting were way off the shortest route, and even traffic wise, it was definitely choosing probably the worst route.

I did like that it had updates from other users coming in, and traffic reports from other users.

As long as we both agree the hardware, both the clone and the Desire, sucks by today's standard.

When will Google Nav add this feature - incoming traffic reports? THe red, yellow, green traffic views aren't much to brag about for the moment - especially when you stuck on N3 and its a red line going through Gilloolys's :)

This nice thing about Waze is that it also learns your routes. Let it run a few times when you drive your regular routes. It will work around that then. Choosing a route that's not as busy as the one your usually take on that specific time. It works for me.

Also didn't work the first few runs.
 
Received my S3 today and havel already rooted it.

Busy downloading the Omega v8.1 Rom which I'll install tomorrow before setting up the phone.

It's an alternative to a cash purchase, hardware only. It usually works out to the retail price except you pay monthly with no interest.

Imo, you should always buy in contract, since the hardware is heavily subsidized against the network profits on average. Just be below the average and you score.

Usually yes, however if you currenlty have an FNB account and take the phone through them and then add a CellC straight up 100 you are paying R 395 per month. This includes 100 minutes, 100 sms en 100mb data.

The deals currently available with more or less the same price is:
MTN Anytime R200 = R 399, 86 minutes, 25 sms & 75mb data but only for the first 12 months, month 13-24 zero mb
Vodacom Business Standard =R 369 no minutes no sms however 250mb for 24 months.
CellC straight up 50= R 404 thus 50 minutes, 50 sms and 50mb for 24 months (CellC charges R8,496 for the phone divided by 24)

So as you can see at this stage the FNB deal with CellC gives you the most value for money.

PS If you take the CellC straight up 100 on a month to month basis you can always jump the another option if something cheapers comes around :)

I've noticed something strange with the S3.

I'm connected through my works Wi-Fi and if I open up my picture gallery, I see someone's picture folder that have obviously not protected their own folder.

A google search tells me that it isn't an uncommon problem. Anyone else experiencing this and is there a way to block it?
 
Maybe File Sharing is Enabled?

Settings > More Settings > Nearby Devices > File Sharing

PS - did they have any interesting pictures :p
