Samsung Galaxy S3

I sort of dropped my S3 yesterday and have a lovely crack in the glass on the top left corner.

Anyone know if just the glass can be replaced - or will I have to get the whole screen replaced?

And does anyone know where I can get the repairs done?

We were at Pavillion on Saturday and I happen to have a look at all the cellular shops. Walking past Autopage, I glanced at their anniversary special and notice they have the S3 for R319P/M on a MTN anytime 200 contract.

So I took the plunge, getting my new white toy just after 1 today. :)

IMO, it's a bargain. I know some Autopage haters might also chip in, but I could not let this go. If my calculations are correct then the phone costs me just R2400.

Could not find any info on the website, wondering if this is an in store special only? R319/pm is what I am currently paying on my nearly 2 year old contract with the galaxy s and not bad at all. However MTN reception in our area is very bad the last couple of months.

My S3 is going in for surgery tomorrow.

Seeing that this screen breaks so easily - what cases would you guys recommend?

Well it's not the actual screen - it's the glass that is cracked in the top left corner - word around the campfire is that the screen and glass are fused and you have to replace the whole screen.

Yesterday afternoon I dropped it no more than 30cms onto a concrete bench. The phone still works fine - just annoying as hell looking at a crack on a month-old phone.

Ouch!!! I feel sorry for you. I can't imagine that. lol

Yeah - wasn't the best feeling in the world.

But once it has been repaired I'll definitely getting a case of some description.

My S2 has survived worse falls than this and barely has a scratch on it.

Damn. I already protect my S3 like it's an egg, but now I'll be even more careful.

I've also read on xda that there are quite a few people who've had issues with the screen breaking.

If only they could make smart phones with the strength of a 3310 :D

Even my 5800 is bullet proof. I dropped it many many times. I have a habit of sticking my foot under something I drop, so I kicked it down the road for nearly 10meters once. It's 2 years old and not a single scratch on the screen, no paint is coming off anywhere. Both the supplied stylus's are gone though.
A charge lasts me nearly a week.

Not too sure about my S3.... I have to get a protection cover very quickly. Don't want to drop this baby.
