What rom am I using? See buying phones in Singapore is a little different - you don't have to buy from a network. Some stores just sell phones and so I'm curious as to what ROM this is that I'm using that doesn't have the limitations network-fiddled roms seems to. I can't make heads or tails of the hieroglyphs so wanted to google but really not sure what to even google...

For some reason multi quote is not working on TapaTalk for me today.
Yes nandroid backups is a big plus as well as being able to use apps like Titanium Backup to restore all your apps and settings after flashing a new Rom.
Some people are just happy and content with their phones the way they come from the SP, then there is those of us who like having a phone that's tailored to our specific needs.
When I still used my old HTC Touch Diamond I used to cook my own Roms and updated and added new features to it on a regular basis. Really miss doing that, will probably start messing around with Android as well.

Some exciting news regarding CM10:
Public status update about CM10 on Samsung devices:
- The Samsung Galaxy S III's ROM is somewhat ready. As far as we know, everything works (WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, Video playback, Calls, Audio, 3G Data, Camera, ...). It is currently undergoing some internal tests to make sure everything is fine just by installing the update ZIP, so if something goes wrong make sure to blame*+Pedro Carneiro*;-) No ETA available, we will release an experimental build when we feel like it's ready, so if everything is fine it could be hours or days, if something goes wrong it could be hours or days or weeks or months or years or centuries or millenniums.
(Oh and don't even think about asking for FM Radio)
- I just started to work on the Samsung Galaxy Note. Codeworkx and Espenfjo already started on the Galaxy S II, thus some of their work profits a lot for the N7000. I'll keep you informed either here or on twitter on how things goes.

You are quite right about the updates taking long to get to the consumer. Samsung recently released an update for the S3, I'm still waiting for mine...
Even more so with version updates. Start the clock for jb.

JellyBean truly is amazing.... Loving it on my nexus7. can't wait to put CM10 on the S3!

How do you find the Nexus7, is it worth getting one if you already have something like a S3. JB is obviously one of the reasons I would get one.

I upgraded from the S2 to S3 and am slightly disappointed....
I used the ALL SHARE app on my S2 to watch movies from my pc and music etc....
The S3 does not have this app??? Anyone know why and when it will become available?

Mine came with All Share Play, not the same thing? Checkout out More Services
Mine was pre-installed with All Share Play, not that I use it.
Just checked, it's the same thing.
But it streams from DLNA sources? Is this not what is trying to be achieved?
Thanks for the outburst, but it explains nothing.
Just checked and Windows 7 streams quite easily to the S3 using AllShare Play.

I've never understood why you would want to stream from a laptop / desktop to your phone...
Recipes while in the kitchen. Continue Community Season 3 while on the schitter.
Stream music to the thing as well. If I'm outside and can see the network from the pool, I can park off in the water or on a chair without lugging around a laptop...
