Samsung Galaxy S3

Could you guys tell me if you can use any mini USB cable to charge the S3? My google searches suggest yes but would like to confirm here.

Yes you can. I do it all the time. Takes longer to charge though.

Thanks Cloud. Why would it take longer to charge though?

Edit: Sorry I meant micro USB. My logitech Harmony uses the same cable, so I could use that as a spare.

USB has lower ampage output. Trickle charges.

Makes sense, charging the phone on my PC yesterday was pretty slow. But now another question and I ain't going to try this, but could you use a iPhone charger given that you could plug in the micro USB cable into it? I would be scared to try though :p

@DJ - I think its because the wall socket provides higher amps hence it will charge faster.

Anyone considered picking up something like this?

I'm going overseas on honeymoon at the end of the year and would ideally like to be able to use my phone at the airports etc.

Spare battery is a bit of a schlep as I'd have to remove the cover each time to swop. Something like this might work better. Thoughts?

The Powermonkey is on special today on OneDayOnly for R139. Seems to be a bargain.

no one using DLNA capabilities or having probs with it??

But my charger for the wall socket is a USB lead too. What's the difference? The input?

The USB standard only provides 500mA. The charger the S3 comes with is rated for 1A. Twice the current does make a pretty big difference, it takes ages to charge from a normal USB port.

I Use it every day to play music and videos, on my RAZR and Galaxy SIII. BubbleUPnP and Plex are both working great. Plex is especially awesome on the Galaxy, no transcoding needed.

Maybe if you told us specifically what the problem is?

What is better for the battery, or doesn't it make a difference?

I might be wrong, but I believe it is better to charge your phone via usb overnight as this won't damage your battery from overcharging.

I use Llama to put my phone on airplane mode from 00:00 so I don't have to charge overnight. At the office I then connect it to a laptop usb and let it charge during the day.

Im tired of struggling.... :)

This is my setup:

I have windows 7 pc with samsung allshare, 2 tv's and a blu ray connect via ethernet cable to my home network and streaming, music, pics, videos perfectly over my network.

Here is the problem. I recently got my S3 and my wife has a tab 10.1.... I can not seem to get allshare to work on either of these.... i want to stream music to my phone or tab to use in my entertaiment area

My S3 is CF rooted and i read that you can add the S2 dlna.apk allshare app to system file, which i have done and it starts up, but no luck in seeing my pc or any other device on the home network....

What can i do?

Thanks
