Samsung Galaxy S3

Sorry guys, thought you were kidding to be honest. So used to Android managing my contacts that I've forgotten the old way.

lol no worries. I am fresh to Android. Been using an iPhone since the 3G so forgive my noob questions. :p

Basically iPhone and more so iOS in opinion have dragged their feet for so many years that Android devices are starting to leave them dead in the water. The lack of customization without jailbreaking is rather bizzare. I understand they are going for a simple easy to use phone, but then make that for grannies and grandpa's and enhance iOS to be a little more appealing.


P.S: Do I get a cookie for moving over to the light side? :D

When iOS first came out, Symbian and WinMo also left it dead in the water in terms of what you could do with it. Although I'll admit back then iOS was prettier. It's not about dragging feet, it's always been like that. Do you really need me to go over what massive glaring omissions the first versions had again? I'm not just talking about customisation, I mean stuff you just couldn't do that phones from several years before could. All I'm saying is it's good that people are finally seeing through the bull spat out by the marketers and experiencing what a real modern smartphone can do.

BTW as I'm sure you know, Android is just as simple and easy to use. All the stuff discussed here is entirely optional. Grannies could use it for everyday stuff just as simply as the Apple/Windows phones and it works flawlessly.

I hated Windows mobile on my HTC back in the day, then I got the iPhone 3G and was in heaven, but the warm fuzzy feeling is short lived with iOS. And I totally agree, the omissions in iOS were border line absurd. Its almost like they do it on purpose, and then when a big release comes out they feel like they are doing the community a huge service by now allowing the phone to MMS. This S3 has opened my eyes up.

S3 is one great phone, but never ever let it fall. Mine fell about 2 feet, no marks but the screen is gone (dark colour) Now I'm using the Note again but it so slow comparing to the S3.
 
Speed up the S3
Menu>Settings>Developer Options>Transition Animation Scale > 0.5
Menu>Settings>Developer Options>Window Animation Scale > 0.5

Eeeek that doesn't sound good. I will do my best. I have it in a protective cover, but I guess that probably won't help.

Do you mean Window Animation Scale? I don't see no Menu option.

Murphy's law is harsh mistress. The .0001% of the time it's out of the cover is the time you'll drop it usually...

I know :( My biggest concern is that because its a large device its not as snug in the hand which could make it easier to drop.
 
I have actually dropped mine once, when I was taking it out of my pocket. It was still in the pouch though so there's no damage, scratches, anything. That's what we in the business call a lucky escape.
