Also got the OTA... Download is very slow. Only done 10MB sofar

Was in a hard protective cover.. This phone is ultra sensitive. Handle with serious care

Just finished installing it, only thing in the release note is that it "Improves Stability"

Only bug I had is that sometimes apps dont update properly in the Play market place, and you have to manually retry it...
 
I see on the Sammobile site that the S3 may get the official Samsung Jelly Bean as soon as August/September.

I'm sure we can look forward to some Rom leaks very soon.
 
Yup, or better yet disable mobile data and only use wifi :P

But then again I am 98% of the time covered by a uncapped wifi connection...
 
Thought as much. Always only used wi-fi. Was curious. Was hoping KIES picked up the update, but does not seem to. KIES version not the latest though.
 
Did you take it to a official Samsung repair agent?

Hows the screen, and how much did it cost you?

I am always afraid of getting a screen replaced with some cheap chinese knockoff that doesnt look as good or has ,batches of dead pixels :(

I used these guys: http://www.tt3repairs.co.za/

It's been replaced with an original Samsung screen - phone got picked up and delivered. Cost be R1580 in total.
 
On a side note - I'm assuming I'd need to reroot the the phone and re-apply any mods after applying the OTA update?
 
How do you update firmware on CF rooted S3?

I just got notification that update is connecting, but error.... cannot connect to server...

Any help?

I tried to update, the update downloaded fine - but the install failed.

I'm thinking we'll have to unroot - install update - root again.

Or something like that.

Use one of the free apps from Play Store to hide root and see if that helps. It's worth a try instead of going through the process of un-rooting your phone. I find it strange that root will affect the download if you used CF-Root to root your phone since it doesn't flash a new kernel, hence it shouldn't be a problem.
 
I would assume loading original firmware that overwrites the bootloader would for all intensive purposes unroot the phone wouldn't it?

I downloaded Voodoo OTA rootkeeper, seems to work like a charm.
