That is sooo ugly :p

The case with the most protection that I owned was the Speck CandyShell - but it scratched very easily and became ugly in no time - it is also quite thick and makes the phone feel very bulky.

I currently have this Case Mate: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Case-Mate-Smooth-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B007ZL0QW4 and love it. It feels slim and slick compared to the CandyShell.
 
I just flashed the paranoid ROM. So happy. After having a nexus and then to s3 ... Touchwizz must die. So nice to have stock again with a few extra tweaks :D
 
My wife has the S3 and it is still stuck on Android 4.0.4.

Where can I get the latest official firmware that will not wipe her phone?

Thanks, I did search this thread but I could not find anything.

Turn on Wifi and go to settings and then and the bottom press on about device, then software update.

What Network are you on?
I emailed Samsung on Monday and they told me the 4.1 update for Vodacom update is OTA.
I actually asked about 4.2 but that's another story.

Otherwise you need to back up your settings, download the Samsung drivers then the Odin software for Samsung phones.

I can do the firmware update with Odin, I just don't know where to get the newest non-wipe version.

If somebody can point me in the right direction then I can take it from there.

Is that firmware in the guide non-wipe?

If I'm not mistaken, maybe some one will correct me but if you install a rom from either odin or recovery it will not format your phone. It only wipes the os and not the stuff u have on your phone like photos and folders and music. Only when u actually delete folders or format the phone does that stuff disappear. I haven't used odin in a while so I'm not 100% sure odin works like this but I know recovery does. If you worried about having to install apps again just use romtoolbox or titanium backup from play store and backup your apps...
After flashing new rom install romtoolbox or titanium backup and restore your backed up apps.
 
Installing from odin with the device in download mode should not result in a wipe...
From a Stock rom to a newer stock rom should be a painless process... and your data should be OK.

But as always backups are Very important

My S3 LTE's screen just died on me :(

Phone became unresponsive so I removed it from its pouch and took the battery out.

Put battery back in and tried to turn phone on, LED flashing, normal sounds come from speaker, I can hear there are unread messages but the screen just remains black.

Can't even boot to try and do a factory reset.
 
My one year old S3 died on me this weekend. Just woke up to a dead phone. Tried different batteries, no go. I did downloaded the app for the sudden death test and it said my phone was fine so I'm not sure what went wrong.

Had CM10.1 on it.

So nothing. No battery sign when on the charger, no download mode?
