Samsung Galaxy S8

After having used the phone for the last three hours straight I've come to the conclusion that the people complaining about the fingerprint scanner position have tiny hands or are extremely uncoordinated.
I also feel it's not that hard to reach or find, but it's not a "natural position".
A natural position as in one in which you hold the phone normally as if you are using it. Doesn't require you to change the way you hold the phone.

I personally don't use it for fear of a slip while changing position if I was walking or something. Instead, I turned on the option for it to scan iris immediately when screen turns on. I do not have to swipe up first.
It is rather quick.

Like I said, people complain immediately becsuse it's different, and people hate change.

I have no problem with the position and hsrdly ever get the 'clean csmera' warning.

How well/fast does it scan for you. If you take it it out your pocket, how long? Also, is AOD enabled?

I got used to the sensor quickly. Have never seen the clean camera warning. Unlocks almost immediately. OAD does not make any difference.

I don't have the AOD display enabled and it scans instantly, don't even need to turn the display on first.

It has also never asked me to try again or cover the entire sensor.

fukkity.

I think I'm gonna rescan my fingerprint, maybe the initial recording is a fukkup. Or maybe I'm just used to the LG reader which was farking fantastic.

thanks guys^^

I don't need to be too secure, so I use face unlock. I only have iris scanning for Secure Folder.

I see an update is being pushed through this morning. It seems to be mostly the update to fix the color balance that was affecting certain uses with a red tint on their screens.

You are a bit slow... this came through yesterday

@Jan

Any chance you could approach Craige Fleisher for follow up comments? As per the linked article: "Head of mobile for Samsung South and Southern Africa Craige Fleischer said Samsung will soon launch a global service which replaces ADH. Fleischer said they are currently finalising the commercial details of the new service ahead of the launch of the Galaxy S8 in South Africa."

The S8 is here. Whats the POA?

How long does it usually take for the new SIM to be registered on the network, up to 24 hours?

Also how did everyone remove the stickers on the back, just plain old water?

Any way to track you order placed with Telkom, was advised it should be with me in the next 3-5 business days, but i was hoping i'd get it before the weekend....

Heard on the radio yesterday, that with the launch of the S8, they running a promo at Sandton City (Nelson Mandela Square) on Saturday, whereby if come with your S8, you go into some Galaxy pod, and you can choose any 1 of the gear items they have (still trying to find this info on the net, but heard in DJ Fresh's show yesterday morning). Also not sure what the Gear items they giving away though?

I also saw some promotional thing at Canal Walk in Cape Town. This was before i got the phone. Apparently they were giving away a samsung goodie bag with proof of purchase. not sure with what inside.
Any of you seeing them and where they are atm?

I've been playing around with my gf s8 for a week now.

Conclusions :
Face unlock is ridiculously quick. Maybe not as secure but super efficient.
Fingerprint scanner also crazy quick, can get used to the position quite easily.
Battery, haven't done a full test but so far not as good as my s7e.
OS, much the same as the edge, quick, responsive, all the little tweaks you want to make it easy and functional.
I think it's really nice to hold in the hand, using the spigen liquid crystal cover.
Of course beautiful display.
Camera is also great as expected.

All in all I think it's a great device, I wouldn't upgrade If you have a s7e, but anything else you will be smiling.

So fanie ... wasn't there some mention of you filing your review of the phone after the long weekend? I see poffle just beat you to the post.
