Samsung HDD pcb needed? hdd does not spin

Hi There,

I received a dead 3.5" external from my friend. the drive does not power up nor does it spin. i took the drive out and placed it into another external casing and connected it and i started to smell something burning by the sata/power connection. i assume the pcb is a goner but i see no burn marks or signs of something that is burnt but i can smell it when i switch it on. my friend has no idea what happen to the drive one day he switched it on and it doesnt power up. any suggestions? its a samsung 1.5tb 3.5" hdd model no. HD154UI. the varsity work on the drive is really important.

Or check the TVS diodes just in case. Might be a simple fix, might not.

I have a Samsung 1.5TB, HD154UI lying in my drawer which is still under warranty. The logic board is good but it has bad sectors so I might be sending it in for RMA.

Even if PCB is the problem you can't just swap them as they contain unique info.

Hi Ponder, dave here, this is a longshot but do you still perhaps have that pcb for the samsung hd154UI you want to sell? My drive is still fine but some components broke off in my bag?
