So it works sometimes, as in reloads everything but then as soon as you click save again and then go back in to get your calculation, it freaks out and makes you unemployed again.
I thin I am gonna leave it for a while until they fix it. it's something wrong on their side
Another question, lets just say a general worker earns R6000 a month and has a RA (Not through the company)
Should that person should file a return even though its below the threshold for PAYE?
What rebates would that person get?
The PAYE contributions will be 0. How do you get any rebates from nothing?
My apologies if its a stupid question, this is the second time I'm filing a return and I'm still learning how it works so I can assist the workers here
I've been trying to find this everywhere but struggling for a concrete answer on depreciation(wear and tear), so hoping someone on this forum knows the answer(s).
- Can I claim depreciation on a cellphone device subscription fee (lets say I use around about 50% of the phone for business calls) for wear and tear? So for example, the invoice from my service provider displays the device subscription fee as R200 per month, Can I claim a depreciation of of R1200 (50%) of the device cost?
- Can I claim depreciation on my motor vehicle (whether it's fully paid off or financed) and lets say I only travel between home and client and back (hardly go into the office) and I don't get any travel allowance from the company? So for example, the car was sold to me for R300000 (so just pure cost of vehicle, not including interest on a financed car), Can I claim a depreciation of R30000 (50%) of the vehicle cost?
Lets assume I have a letter from my employer stating that they allow me to use my personal vehicle and cellphone for business use?
Thanks for the clarificationUnfortunately not.
This is why you get a travel allowance. You get to claim maintenance costs etc against the allowance.
As for the cellphone, regardless of use, if it is yours, it's considered a personal use item.
I did a 'Refresh IRP5 Data' and it resets the form. Try it. It works. Done my return. What happens if you click the "Refresh IRP5 Data" option?
use the app on your phone, it is alot more accurate and you can view everything. If it's doing that irritating page cannot be generated error, then simply click the download button within Acrobat and then you should be able to open it fine.
So filled out my form, saved it, clicked on it to see my calculation and now apparently I'm a farmer? Wtf? Also my full IRP5 vanished
I switched over to Chrome. Can see calculation button. If press Cal... button nothing happens. Then once I return there is a button to view Calc. result.Had the exact same issue, refreshed the IRP5 data but can't get rid of the farmer section. Also can't do a calculation. Very annoying
Request the tax certificates from the discovery app, and submit through the efiling app on your phone it is way faster.I can't complete mine because once again I'm stuck dealing with pathetic Discovery. They haven't provided my tax certificates... their email for said certificates refer you to their site. You log onto their site - and are required to request the certificate be sent to an email address on file, said email doesn't arrive.
Tried multiple times, emailed healthinfo - no response - tried facebook - they said they'd email it. Nothing.
****ing hate Discovery.

On the first form you need to select yes for local capital gains...How do you generate the source codes 4250/4251?
It can range anywhere between 3 weeks and 3 months. They might request additional documentation after they review your initial documents and after every request you wait another 3-4 weeks. That's been the trend the last couple years. Not sure if it will be any quicker this year. SARS did say they want to issue refunds as quickly as possible but I wouldn't hold my breathSo I edited my return due to a error, and was selected for verification. How long does the verification take?
Anyone submitted last week and was selected for verification? and perhaps submitted docs last week?
Any news?
Guess it's only generated if you need to declare those. Thanks. On the first form you need to select yes for local capital gains...
I normally wait around a week for this process to complete, but seeing that everyone is getting pay so quickly and the system/app is so quick maybe there has been some people experiencing fast movement of this process tooIt can range anywhere between 3 weeks and 3 months.
