SARS E-Filing 2019 OPEN!

Is there anyone who knows how to complete the wizard if you've left the country during the period of assessment?

I've moved to the Netherlands in October. So this means I pass the physical presence test for SA and should therefore be a tax resident for the whole tax year. So then I dont tick the box about "did you stop being a (tax) resident. " But then should I tick the one about foreign services and that it was subject to tax in another country? Or is that only applicable if the money was paid into a South African account?

And then I guess next year I'll tick the box "did you stop being a (tax) resident" with the start date being 1 October 2018?

I dont have an answer to your question, however i can recommend the helpyouefile service.
You can open it from the login page (support agent icon under forgot your password), they were pretty helpful for me

Will they call people on an international number?

Hmmm, almost 3 weeks, still nothing.

When did you submit from what we have seen the timelines if selected for verification appears to 14 working days and then you either get a request for more information or your SOA changes to Selcted for verification no and then payment takes place within the next 7 days. You need to count 14 working days from the time you submitted your supporting docs. If its longer than 21 working days you can escalate it

I just got a stupid auto-generated generic letter:

So yeah ... basically no clue what really triggered it. I think it had to do with me changing my address. My bank details didn't change, my employer didn't change, my medical aid and pension didn't change ... the only other thing it could possibly be is this refund was around 1.6x my usual annual refund, partly due to a promotion I suspect (so was paying tax at a higher rate than I should have been for like half the year). Mebbe SARS logic is something like this: "IF (refund for year x > 1.5x year x-1 AND address changed) { submitForAudit();}".
Did you get any feedback since?

I also changed my address when submitting the return, although all my supporting docs I sent to them have my current address on, I feel I might still have to take proof into a branch, which would be my medical aid statement anyway

Still bugger all. *sighs* Might be time for a other phonecall to SARS soon.

Filed on the 9th July, selected for audit same day and submitted my docs immediately. Got the completion letter now on 29 July, so about 3 weeks in total.
Will see how long it takes to pay out. Nothing in my account yet.

Done yesterday, SOA says refund will be paid on 01/08/2019. 1st time in probably 10 years + that I do not get audited.

Where do you see the payment date? I see no reference to it in my completion letter?

You will not see it in the completion letter you will only see it in the Statement of Account. Pull a fresh one.

Asked me to submit supporting documents. Into the blackhole it goes.

See this crap they send me:

Sars.jpg

That for a crappy R8900 payout anuity included.

After the IT 34 line, is the line for SOA
So I go to returns history, I select the 2019 return, and then right at the bottom there is an IT 34 line original assessment. Under that is just Request historic notice, Dispute, or request for reason? Not seeing anything remotely like SOA. Or is it somewhere else?

Edit: OK, I found it under my profile where you can request it. Not the most intuitive menu. Payment date looked like it would be tomorrow so we will see.

That's great

Haven't followed the thread this year.

I'm getting more and more clients telling me that their employer is telling them that they are not issuing IRP5 certificates and it will be prepopulated on their tax return.

While this might be the case for most employees, I still have a few clients where the IRP5 does not pull through especially for foreign employees.

Just wondering if I've missed something from SARS as the last time I checked, issuing of IRP5 certificates is still a requirement?
