SARS E-Filing 2021/22

Quick question... If the refund from SARS has been deposited into your banking account and reflecting, can they later on say it's been reversed and they want docs etc?

Or once it's in your bank account it's done and dusted. Those naaiers mos then cannot reverse it correct?
Transfer it to bitcoin and run:barefoot::cautious:

on a serious note, I don't think they can do that once it has been paid out but I stand to be corrected. SARS is pretty efficient and would not pay you out if you had outstanding documentation!

Another WFH query:

I was under the impression that bond interest can be claimed, however my tax consultant is telling me that SARS are rejecting these claims and saying that only commission earners who have home offices may claim bond interest.

Is this correct?

Why am i getting the " Saved with invalid bank details" thingy when i want to file ??

nothing has changed on my side

I'm no pro but even I know this is BS. They might try to make it hard for you to claim but it's not just commission earners entitled to it. You have to spend more than 50% of your time working from there and it has to be used exclusively for your trade. eg. Entertainment Lapa or children's rooms cannot be considered home offices.

I spend 80-100% of my working time at my home office in a separate, dedicated room which is used exclusively for work.

It happened to me 2 years ago, after I submitted an amendment for taking over my mom's medical aid payments. The refund was reversed and it took months of back and forth to submit all the docs they wanted.

Would you (or your tax consultant) be able to provide the grounds (official communication from SARS) on why they are specifically reversing the interest on bond?

If you've got a valid reason to work from home (i.e. a letter from employer stating such), I see no reason why they would disallow the interest on bond.

Remember the compliance and disclosure aspect of your claim.

I'm going to ask the consultant. All she said is that SARS have been rejecting.

I have an employer letter.

What do you mean by compliance and disclosure?

I mentioned in an earlier post that my IRP5 information from employer is not showing on efiling.

Queried it with HR. Said they're having issues uploading the file. Then got an message on Friday that it has been done. Checked again today, still nothing. Asked now and apparently only some staff's info went through and they need the payroll provider to assist.

I'm frustrated as I'm due a large refund. HR has the audacity to tell me I must be patient, filing season has only been open for 19 days. Asked them whether the employer won't be penalised for ate submission and was told that they have the records to prove that they tried unsuccessfully.

A little annoyed at the moment.

It's how you disclose your information to SARS. The relevant schedules, calculations and supporting documents. They can only do with what you give them.

Sounds like an EMP501 recon to be amended by employer or to be resubmitted. Their audit won't necessarily affect your personal IRP5.

Try "Refresh Data" underneath your ITR12 to see if your IRP5 details are refreshed and corrected? If it hasn't then the EMP501 recon for 2022-02 needs a look at.

I say this because I can refresh an IRP5 on e@syfile and it will be corrected on employee side the following day. I may cause an audit (for myself as the company) by resubmitting the recon but the employee's refresh will show in a few hours.

My payment date is today, I'll take it when I get it. Guess I need to wait the 72 hours.

Had the same issue, it was cause Investec changed on their said from Investec Bank to just Investec, or other way round. but that was my issue. So check the bank name.

So sometimes, just sometimes one has to give credit where it's due and all I can say is that the two wonderful ladies who assisted me at SARS have given me faith in one of our govt institutions.... timeline of my interaction below:
  • 29/06: Filed Tax return - I know, I know
  • 01/07: Refund due with no audit - nothing received and wait a few more days (thanks @LaraC  )
  • 05/07: Call call centre to find out about refund - 2+ hours in the queue and the call goes dead
  • 06/07: Call call centre again - on hold for 2+ hours and get assisted by the a very kind and competent lady. Told that I was selected for an audit for 21 & 22 and apologies for not receiving the correspondence. Tells me what references to use, what to submit and how to submit them.
  • 06/07 - 18/07: compiling documents and waiting for 1 Section 18A cert
  • 19/07 @ 13:30: submit all required docs for 21 & 22.
  • 19/07 @ 17:30: receive phone call from another very kind and competent lady from SARS to inform me that there's only 1 Section 18A cert missing. Re-upload it while on the phone to her. She informs me that this is all that's required.
  • 19/07 @ 18:30: Receive x 2 notifications that the verification is done and finalised without changes
Now I guess I need to wait for my refund but wowzers... I'm impressed

Edit: Perhaps the speedy service it's due to the way in which I had to submit my docs and this may help others who are stuck waiting. Deets below:

Sars's main website ->Online Services ->Submit supporting documents

Thanks. I checked and am able to download an IRP5 off the payroll system (but have doubts now about correctness).

Have refreshed Efiling this morning and IRP5 is still not showing.

But thanks for the feedback. I'll keep checking, sincerely hope I don't get selected for audit (just due to the delay).
