I am/was pro union, but *&^%, the English and their politicians are starting to get on mae wick!

This ^ . And with his Lordship Farrage heading up there.....I canna but help think that momentum for the yes campaign will pick up again

Show 'em laddie! Can we call you Mcmoose from now on?

No, it was never imagined that someone would allow this type of silly populist vote to go forwards. Everyone is kinda shocked. But David Cameron used it as part of his election campaign and now he has to finish what he started. If Scotland pull away Im pretty sure we can expect a labour government in the next elections.

Lol. And there we have it. Scotland being treated like a naughty school boy by the headmaster. You really haven't got a clue.

You see, no one in Scotland is shocked. The only shocked people are those who are surprised that Scots actually have a voice and they might actually want to decide their own destiny.

No wonder the unionist politicians are currently doing a better job of increasing the yes vote. Fscking patronising tossers.

I was just reading, there is enough gas/oil for Scotland to give the country an income for only 15 more years. Expect another vote then if that happens.

Lol. I wish I had a nice facepalm jpg. I'd insert it here.

Maybe you should email Statoil and tell then to stop building these fancy new platforms and take their billions of dollars back.

Not sure why you are so hyper emotional on this topic, I dont give a **** if Scotland leaves the UK or not. Seriously I dont. I am however going to laugh at David Cameron and the conservatives if they do.

As to your rather bizarre response to my comment, perhaps you should email CNN money with your views. Im sure they care what you think.

Ian Wood, who built a global energy services company, says there could be between 15 billion and 16.5 billion barrels of oil and gas still to be recovered from Scottish waters. That's far short of the 24 billion barrels, worth £1.5 trillion, claimed by the Scottish government.
Wood told industry website energyvoice.com last month that declining production would start to hit Scottish jobs and the economy in 15 years.

Not a problem, we shall just up the exports on the water of life!

For what it's worth companies that extract resources always work on cycles of 5 or 7 or x number of years of reserves left, there is still plenty of oil left, Westminister keeps referring to 15 years left, but neglect to say, that it is the current operational wells that they are referring to..... to many oil companies are in bed with the Westminister politicians.......

Our diamond mine up here, told the miners in 1972, that the mine had PROVEN reserves for five years, and would close in 1977, we are now in the cycle where the mine reckons we have reserves up until 2050......

Never trust people who own mines and oil companies...

Who can I trust on then? :) But even if we take the Scottish "governments" very liberal values, you then have 30 years of oil left :D

PS, my son is half Scottish if that means anything :D

Oh I don't know, maybe the 'silly populist vote' comment got my goat up. That or even thinking that it's up to David Cameron, the Conservatives, the Queen or anyone else but the people of Scotland to decide what the Scottish people want to do.

The people of Scotland voted for devolution of power in 1997

The Scottish people voted the SNP into office in 2007.

The SNP increased their majority in 2011 on the independence referendum ticket.

We have a referendum.

What on earth has that got to do with David Cameron or anyone else?

As to your rather bizarre response to my comment, perhaps you should email CNN money with your views. Im sure they care what you think.

I don't care what they or anyone else thinks. Because thinking is all it is. No-one knows how much oil there is but the people with the money seem content to further invest so I'll trust them. Either way, the oil has got nothing to do with anything.

Well allowing the Scotts to vote in this referendum was David Camerons idea, whether you like it or not he was the one that instigated and allowed the referendum to happen. If he didnt allow it, this vote would not be happening. If you are unsure of this I would advise you look it up.

Dont worry, the Queen of England will still remain the Queen of the Scotts :D As per usual. *poke poke poke*

See my timeline. Cameron never instigated anything. He was forced by Scottish votes to ratify it.

And Queen Elizabeth the first of Scotland shall of course remain on her throne. She was crowned in Edinburgh and the political union has nothing to do with her position.

Hey ghoti, sorry dude. It's not for me to take out my frustrations with you.

Unreserved apology.

Im not stressed at all :P Its Friday... which I personally call "FightDay" (cause people get more ansi on Fridays for some reason):D

But just a fyi point. David Cameron was not "forced" by anything other than what he promised voters. He is only bound by electorate promises he made to garner votes (hence my populist* comment). Since he campaigned on this, he now has to act on it. He could have gone "screw the Scotts". and this referendum would not be happening. There was no way to force him beyond threatening to not vote for him again. Sure, I understand a vocal group in Scotland have been working on this for a long time, but at the end of the day it would need the UK PMs signature to get to this point. Just as it would need Zumas signature if Orania was allowed a referendum.

If Scott's vote for independence, this is going to kill the conservative party for about decade (which I approve of). No only are all those voters no longer going to be eligible votes for Cameron, but losing a historical part of the UK is going to make the conservative party look very bad. Who would vote for them after this?

*PS, I always see nationalism as populism. I think its a silly, outdated concept, but thats my person view.

It will be a complete reset of westminster, the labour gets a lot of seats from scottland, which they will now have to defend and the conservatives will be humiliated for losing their oldest conquered territory.

Cameron will forever be known as the prime minister who lost Scotland. (assuming the Scotts vote that way)

Who cares? Like, seriously? Why is it such a big deal? Scotland isn't theirs to keep.

Well I think a lot of people will care as they have had a shared heritage for a long time. I know if Zuma allowed the Western Cape to have a referendum and they voted to break off. I would be a bit sad if WC was no longer part of SA. I think a lot of British people (many Scots included) would care.

I'm not sure what lies Salmond is telling. To me attacking Salmond is a clear tactic of play the man and not the ball by the BT camp.

But I'm interested in what way Scotland is subsidised?

Either way, head or heart, the decision is down to having a possibility of making things better and making our own decisions, or remaining a shire of England.

Quite simply, no side knows what's going to happen until it happens so it's best not to jump to conclusions like you have obviously done.

The basic facts are that Scotland accounts for 8.4% of the UK population, 8.3% of the UK's total output and 8.3% of the UK's non-oil tax revenues - but 9.2% of total UK public spending.

Scottish Executive figures for 2009-10 show that spending per capita in Scotland was £11,370, versus £10,320 for the UK. In other words, spending in Scotland was £1,030 - or 10% higher - per head of population than the UK average.

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-16477990

The gulf in state spending between Scotland and England has hit a record £1,600 per head.
Government spending in Scotland averaged £10,212 per person last year – £1,624 per head more than in England.
The staggering figures, buried in Treasury documents, reveal the gap increased by more than 15 per cent in only a year.

(2) Lies by Alex Salmond:

It was Alex Salmond's warning that the survival of the NHS (a Scottish religion as much as an English one) was threatened by Westminster that allowed him to vanquish Alistair Darling in their second debate and to pull Labour voters into the Yes camp.

The First Minister's claims were, of course, nonsense. Health has been devolved to the Scottish parliament since its creation in 1999, meaning that the only person who could privatise (or cut) the health service is Salmond himself.

http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2014/09/salmonds-nhs-claims-have-been-shredded-ifs

Then today it emerged that Alex Salmond misled the Scottish Parliament on private pensions. Back in May Mr Salmond promised parliament on three occasions that no special deal would be needed to prevent the break-up of cross-border pension schemes after independence. Yet he admitted in a Sunday interview that a special EU deal will be needed after all or else we will have to break up the pension schemes of thousands of Scots who have worked hard and put something by for their retirement.

You obviously not looking hard enough.

So you happy with voting for independence even though the party in power literally has no plans? Interesting. Wee Eck and his merry band of socialists leading Scotland into the abyss. Luckily I think it will still swing to a 'No' vote, but only just.

Also I really don't understand this nonsense about because they vote Labour like a bunch of sheep time & time again but sometimes get a Tory government, they should secede. Should Democrat states like NY, Illinois etc secede when there is a Republican president power and vice-versa? The North of England also generally votes Labour (although UKIP are making some inroads up there) but part of democracy is not always getting the government you voted for.

Oh and this gem:

Alex Salmond’s former mentor today promised a “day of reckoning” for big business if Scots vote for independence including the nationalisation of BP, the break-up of the banks and a boycott of John Lewis.

Jim Sillars, who shared a campaign platform with the First Minister two days ago, accused large companies who have spoken out against separation this week of attempting to “subvert” the referendum through “lies and distortions”.

He said they were “in cahoots with a rich Tory Prime Minister” and warned nationalists would have their revenge if there is a Yes vote next Thursday
