Screamer ADSL

Sreamer seems to be a popular isp, but how does one go about joining in on the fun if screamer isn't taking any more people in?

I have a mixed bag of results. HTTP downloads are more often than not, slow. On the other hand, torrents are quite fast. I normally do about 1GB a day on my 384kb line, which is not great at all, but times that by 30 days and the R400 suddenly becomes worthwhile. Maybe I should just use my afrihost account to browse and screamer to download.

This is exactly what i do.....:p

Hi Freejack

This is not a permanent situation and we should be getting additional broadband within the week and any applications we have held back will then be processed on a first come, first served basis.

I have a screamer 384 uncap wimax line, everything's been super smooth speed and downloading wise other than the occasional disconnect on MW2 but as from today my torrent's have but slowed down to the point where it's not even viable to load them up anymore.

I can't understand this?? Prioritization i can understand in peak times but 19h44?? My torrenting is pointless.

So then news servers to be an answer, can anyone give me the address to actually "log in" to either the IS or saix one? I have my client prog grabit but cant seem to find the actual logging in setting to start the downloading.

Is rapidshare viable Ive heard good things about them?

Any assistance is appreciated

Ok, it's good to know that you guys are getting business and expanding your broadband to accommodate new customers. For now I will stay with my Digichilli account.

I'm the complete opposite. My HTTP downloads are fast, but my torrents suck, even when I am connected to plenty of seeders.

BTW, theoretically, on a 384 line, you should be getting at least 3 gigs per day if you are downloading 24/7. Thus, a 384 line should be averaging about 38 - 45 kB/s so you should pull down closer to 100 gigs per month.

Are the uncapped accounts grouped together with the limited cap accounts? i.e. do they share bandwidth?

I think they must share bandwidth but at the speeds I am getting on my uncapped the capped users should be happy but why anyone would go capped at the prices they charge for their uncapped is beyond me.

Stay far away.

Provide some facts troll. Your first post... you should at least give some info. At least Screamer is trying... can't say much for Telkom. If you have had a poor time with Screamer, then it is a pity, but from what I am picking up from this thread, Screamer is doing better and better.

I have 3 accounts now:

Screamer
Digichilli
Web Africa (unshaped)

I was swopping between digichilli and screamer to WA at first because they were up and down but for the last week I've been on screamer the whole time and it is working without a problem (I did swap to digichilli during that time to see the performance between the two and screamer was better for now). I have downloaded some torrents at good speeds (don't download a lot of them though) and I still need to test it properly with Xbox live gaming (WA had no latency issues for online gaming) but all round I'm impressed with everything now, even got 2 gigs downloaded in one day with no problem on my 384k account so all is well. This is just my experience of course hope everyone else is having a similar results

One question. I've heard some people changed the settings on their modem and it improved performance. Where can I get these settings from?

As I can recall it seemed that those "settings" were mythical based and never materialised, support never came back to me with any details. I think it was more an excuse at the time when their service was really bad or maybe there was a problem, but the only settings that I had to change was DNS as they changed, apart from that all settings remained the same and speeds are good and stable still.

no settings used ,just like any other account i have with other service providers. And i have to say that for a week SCREAMER is going like a boing. One week of solid downloads has done about 22 gb of stuff.Very happy with that.Still has little problems with browsing, but for the sole purpose of downloads i think it is good value for money.
