Screamer ADSL

I was with Screamer for 3 months on an uncapped. It started out ok and just got worse. From the posts I'm guessing the problems haven't been sorted out. Really sad to see. Was hoping for a real change in the South African market. Screamer still hanging in there so lets just hope it gets better.

Well today I can at least run the pingtest... (well allmost - it gets stuck on "measuring ping") and mybb pages are loading :)

512 line and package:
EDIT: 4 Refreshes to get pingtest working....

Midrand...

JHB...

Durbs...

Yawn, Screamer....

I signed up for 4mb uncapped residential @539/month. so far: EXCELLENT!!!! 2.6mb/.27 down/up to/from UK and US!! decent latency (100ms local, 300ms international). prorated the first month. my vpns work fine, apparently not shaped. so far, so amazing. voip works (single channel).
we'll see how this proceeds as the take on more customers but to Mweb: wow, you totally made my month!

To all of us/you who tried Screamer, only to be jacked around for months: go talk to Mweb now!

I will wait a month longer. Just to see if the 13 000 odd subs who join up still have the same experience later.
In the interim, whilst all you guys are off - maybe I will get full line speed.

i just got my 2nd sms from Screamer - about there being intermittent connections between 2pm and 2:15pm.

Got it at 2:14pm - doesnt really help me to know it one minute from when its about to be back up normally.
But it is a start. Thank you MWEB.

Got my 3rd sms now - MWEB must have really turned your head.
This time its not a good sms - hardware failure at the new upstream provider.

Now this is really excellent communication - thanks for taking heed of comments made here.
This certainly makes us more comfortable when we are in the know.
Keep at it.

Hey All,

I just setup a MWEB 4 MB uncapped at work today, brought the account home to check it out (only got a 384 line :( ), and oh my word its a dream compared to this screamer mess, i can browse and download torrents at the same time, torrent speeds 5 sec's after opening utorrent where at 25 kB's and thats only with 15 seeders of a share, and as time is moving on so are the speeds.

Screamer better pull finger and also decrease the price to compete on some level to MWEB.

Well, look at this bull****.

Thank you screamer for two weeks of utter rubbish. You silly little ****ers have really made a mess of things and unless you start giving away free internet access, I suspect your operation may be nearing its end, simply because you screwed us around.

I'm cancelling tomorrow morning and switching to the m-web thing.

at those prices, I can even afford to upgrade my line speed.

Finally some real competition in the market. Now I wanna see the rest drop their prices too.

maybe all u torrent junkies are being slowed to allow the rest of us can do normal browsing

Whatever.. browsing speeds were still crappy so your annoying comment doesnt hold any water MightyMuffinMan... wtf ... what kind of nick is that....lol

As for the mweb offer... that sounds good, whats the deal there guys?

Me again,

Over an hour average for a single torrent, seeding not being great, getting 26 kB
Now started two torrents at the same time, average over last 15min or so is now at 34 kB.

Screamer better send out a notice to all customers on whats happening, because so far with mweb you get service, at least a consistent speed from my first hour at home, and best of all its even cheeper.

The problem with screamer from the onset is they had no public relations team, and from what i studied in marketing, the worst thing you can do is not communicate with your target market, you're just doomed to fail.

oooh screamer you have....until the 30th to pull up your sox or I am cancelling and moving to MWeb, firstly is R50 cheaper a month and they have infrastructure to support the demand... well so we told... dont actually care about the 50bucks... its the consistency that I am worried about..

Screamer may have been winning the race in terms of uncapped adsl from the beginning but now there are lot more contenders and now it all comes down to how you finish the race... quick of the mark screamer but can you go the distance and start actually giving what you advertise... like I said you have a week and half to get your act together.. and I think I speak for most Screamer clients when I say this.

My connection has been flying for the last 12 to 18 hours without a hitch.
Strange it coincided with the MWEB announcement.

Has anyone had the same experience or have you jumped ship already?

It will be interesting to see the response taken by Screamer/DC/Sainet.

If MWEB's performance stacks up then for the price it is the best deal. they will then have no choice but to lower their prices as well - even lower than MWEB perhaps.

Any word on this so-called upgrade/maintenance that they're supposed to be doing? Admittedly I've only got a 384k line, but I'm getting worse than dial-up speed here!
