SEACOM explains prolonged problems

My morning thus far "Ahh good morning - coffee - news, email, work... wait deadlinks? no no NO! Load net tools - 33 -93% packet loss on international -weeps a little inside"

*SOB* all is lost my side. i love my farmville and i can't get on to my farm :(

Am I right in saying that local media hasn't picked up on the SEACOM story? If this happened in the US or UK for instance it would be some sort of news at least. This seems to be affecting tons of people who use the Internet in South Africa. Come on!!! Seriously?!!?

If its not soccer related now, the media simply dont give a rat's ass!! They hardly made any fuss about the stranded South Africans in Europe that couldn't get back home with the ash cloud...

Think because local connection is still good the powers that be are not too concerned at the moment. If this happened a week or so before the world cup kicked off and no one could connect to/with the outside world...then you'd get sick of reading it in the papers and seeing/hearing it on the news

Let's hope that's true...

Thinking these reports sound more and more like weather reports...what they say and what you get are entirely different!! LoL

Considering that the cable would be fixed by now, except for bad weather ... ;)

Bad weather? That's like using the excuse...your cheque is in the mail!! :p

Fact of the matter is...we just have to wait and hope it comes back up sooner rather than later. In hindsight...wish I didn't cancel my ADSL contract with Telkom last month...grrr

These things happen, better they spend extra time and fix it properly then suffer more downtime later then all the kiddies will be up in arms again! I heard weather effected the repair vessel as well that's why its taking a while. Yes and more cables likes eSSAY and WACS will provide redundancy, its a new dawn, in two years we'll have great connectivity :)
