Setting up a B315 & B525 together...

Just got a B525 router which I want to run RAIN on and Telkom LTE on the (old) B315.

The idea is to have the Telkom "kick in" when RAIN isn't available (ie. RAIN will be the primary and Telkom the backup).

Is it possible or must I physically switch off the "offline" router everytime?

I've used an old school timer on my B525 to power up and off 1755-2255 and connected it to my b513 eth1 to Wan. Been working well since beginning June.
Can't see the need for load balancing costs for now.

Considered that, either a timer or even one of those nice sonoff smart switches wired into the supply. My only issue is the single ap to have devices connect to.

LB isn't expensive, mine cost R500 I think. Saved way more than that with the Rain usage.
 
same here, have a sonoff wifi switch to turn my router psychically on and off,
best solution, as one can then configure something else to turn on at the same time.

I thought the Rain doesn't work with the B525 router

Looking at the specs it covers Rain frequency. So I can't see why it won't work.

Was that maybe the old rain fixed lte article? B525 hadn't been launched yet.
 
Thanks for all the replies!

I ended up with the Rain SIM in the B525 (hitting 20+Mbps without 'bunny ears') and the Telkom SIM in the B315.

I get home after 6 in the week so no love from my Rain WiFi (I leave the B525 on with the SSID hidden and one hell of a password) and simple switch on the B315 when I need interwebs outside Rain's time.
Since I didn't put any one else on the B315 this is the simplest solution I feel.

Just thought there would a simple solution without buying a dual sim lte router or going all Doc Brown with switches and stuff.
