Sexual addiction is no joke. This is one of our most powerful drives, and lack of control can ruin our lives and families.

http://saa-recovery.org/ - read excerpt from book

Can we define how often one needs to get rocks off before we diagnose sexual addiction?

Our sex drive is determined by hormones, and Sexologists recommend a once a day orgasm to improve our general health.

My question is at what point is it so bad that our behaviors are considered excessive since we are all different.

I do agree that moderation is key and abstinence is impossible.

Porn might need to vanish though in the long run.

Your thoughts?

Does this turn you on, smalls?

oh_snap_640_04.jpg

needs more unicorns :D

Dude... its the internet.

You can only educate us by sharing. Most of us have seen it all anyway and just want to ask questions. If anyone judges we will troll them to death.

i know, but this is a south african technology forum, i don't really want to share the things i do and that i'm into, i just want to highlight the problem i'm having. i don't want to state it like a freakshow over and over even though i may be one

Choking? Or the teddy bear?

i'm sure my wife would have bigger problems if i had a teddy bear fetish :D

It really seems that you feel terrible about your fetish, smalltownsky.

I cant really see why, because you were born this way, with an altered love map.(John Moneys theory)

/shortened

Stay unique buddy.

Regards.;)

thanks for the message dude, i appreciate it. i've also read up a lot on fetishes and sexuality and have spoken to all kinds of people. i feel unique, i haven't met anyone in south african that has the same issues or views as me. and i've looked, hard. it's just hard on me because i have a hard time connecting with people as it is, i'm very close to my family and i know they would still love me but it would hurt them. my wife seemed like the first person to really understand, but it turns out she didn't, or i didn't explain it properly to her

Scat. He's into scat. It's gotta be scat.

No Abzo, not Coprophillia!:D

@Smalltownsky, when you say views, do you mean perception?

Im sure i knew some guy on my fetish forum who was also into your fetish and he was proud of it.

Look after all is said and done, can you still do vanilla love or is your fetish primary?

Im a universal adapter lol!:)

yeah, my perception and fetish growing up has been such a big part of me. i remember being young and being in a religious family how i used to pray to God to make me stop having the kind of dreams i did and to help me with me sick thoughts. this eventualyl led to me being an atheist as i didn't see prayer doing anything.

i also never understood how people could want to go out and get smashed, or why people got so excited over small things. so in a way it contributed to almost my entire outlook on life.

i was proud, but when you have someone you love who doesn't understand you i think it will affect you. i think it would affect most people that i know, not that it's any of their business, but i've never really had a reason to feel proud of it despite how it's made me turn out. i always feel that it will get me fired or stop people from talking to me if they somehow ever found out, so this is how i feel that it's destructive for me

You are not the only person who feels that if somebody found out about ones fetish, people will think differently.

I had somebody on one of my forums commit suicide, because of his fetish.
His wife was ok at first, then she told his entire family.
He came to me for advice and everything was going so good until,he went off the rails, by not finding that balance which i constantly speak about.
I was upset for days after and realized that the only thing one can change is his/her own perception.
I talked my wife about it, and she accepted.
I went to get checked out just to be doubly sure and even the doctor explained the normality of fetishes.
Everybody has secrets, of this im now convinced after what he told me....

Everybody wants to be accepted and when you are a minority(Fetishes are going to be called isolated minority syndrome BTW), you will feel isolated.
However lets put it this way, Hitler had a Coprophillic fetish, along with Mozart.
Ricky Martin is into Water sports and Brangelina(Brad pitt and wife), are also rumored to be into real kinky stuff, and a certain US Republican Senator well.
Lets just say he likes it freaky with Prozzies, even though he is married and is conservative and stuff, being into family values etc...
The complete opposite of what he stands for.
These are a few of many examples i can name.
If most people were truly honest, there would be something about themselves that is different and many do not want to be different so they don't go there.

The point is these people are on top of the food chain, celebs, politicians and geniuses.
I don't judge these people for their fetishes.
Some of them are brilliant, extremely talented and uber famous, so their success is definitely contributed to being different.

Your wife will have to accept you as you are, because you cannot change.
You have to want to, and as i was told sexuality is very different in everybody and you must never apologize for being who you are.
You do have to be responsible though.
Sexual addiction and fetishes are NOT the same, especially if they are practiced between consenting adults a few times a week and the fetish is not exclusive.
Otherwise its perfectly legit and healthy and wont pose a problem unless its always needed daily.

Be confident with your fetish, even though its hard to be different, and perhaps someday you will wake up with a feeling of....
'Im different but its ok, and im happy'

I just don't want you to blame yourself, because its all you know how to be.

I was also religious, until i was in church and i was told not to tolerate homosexuality, which i have no problem with.

Even though technically my fetish is ok because its not written in the bible, i felt that me having a fetish is no different to homosexuality, in that im in the same boat, and would be judged the same or worse...

I truly believe in time all fetishes will be more openly spoken about and eventually the taboo will fade.

I don't think this will ever happen. It's the same with religious harmony, multi-culturalism, racism, etc. Anything that's not like you (ie. different) is automatically bad. Most people struggle with this concept as they truly try to be understanding and accepting of others but that little bug is still there. It's one of our biggest flaws as humans. A left-over from our animal instincts, where we have a pack mentality. If you have a quirk, you're "different", so you join other "different" people. To that group, those who don't have said quirk are "different", so they're the enemy. It's just how we are. Sucks...

You missed this part?
....there are common elements that seem to characterize our addiction:

Powerlessness over addictive sexual behavior.

Resulting unmanageability of his/her life.

Feelings of shame, pain, and self-loathing.

Failed promises and attempts to stop acting out.

Preoccupation with sex leading to ritual.

Progressive worsening of negative consequences

You said you'd tell us today. If it's not scat or necrophilia then I give up.

You missed this part?

Not at all.
Self diagnosis based on those said concepts, are not accurate enough.
Sex becoming ritualised could also be a once a week routine, with the wife at the same time in the same way.
I wish I was on my PC so I could post a link to the Sexual addiction online test.
In fact I will later.
For it to work you have to be completely honest.
I scored 6 out of 20, and it is not enough to be considered sex addiction.
5 Years ago I could easily have been a 12,because I was younger and hornier.
@Nocturnity, I agree in a sense that we are like pack animals.
Our lack of tolerance toward anything as you described in general is our downfall.
I do believe that fetishes, AKA isolated minority syndrome, will be removed out of the DSM within the next decade, just as homosexuality was.
I like being different, yet and I am the same as most humans.
I love, laugh and cry, and if people were to be completely honest with themselves, there would be something that is different from the mass population.
Not necessarily sexual, but different.
When all is said and done we are the human race and NOBODY is perfect.

Does this stem from the fact that she said this or have you come to that conclusion yourself . . . as well?

She said it. But it's just one thing of many. Like she was already chasing another huy last year, so she was already unhappy back then

@demon angel : are you japanese?

No, although I may as well have been, my views and interests in most things are very very Eastern.
Except I do believe in a GOD.
Having read about the principles about the realization of why we are even here on earth, has changed my outlook on life forever.
