Dunno, but I rather enjoy 7.1 uncompressed Dolby TrueHD.

Say, how are you enjoying COD4 on a 42" LCD, with Full Dolby 5.1 - on your PC?

I came from PC gaming, was sick of upgrading every 2 years.

I spent R8500 on a dualcore, 2Gb, HD4850 in 2007, and I could still not play Crysis on very high.

I prefer console gaming - less hassle, and less TCO over 5 years.

I love COD4 on my big screen, brought it to a lan once lol, cause i forgot my 22" at work :D

COD4 ran fine on my P4, with 1GB 533 ram and 8500gt (crappest card ever)

The upgrading isn't as bad as everyone thinks - a dusty 2 Year old 8800GT can still play most of todays games with no problems.

it's only crysis that is very demanding(but it's beautiful!) but you don't *HAVE* to run everything on ultra high detail - it's just 1 game!

I suspect that we can now assume that the Xbox is not a selling point for most shops. But like someone else said: this is old news. I am willing to admit that the hardware in an Xbox is not top notch, but returns have nothing to do with the fact that they are selling less Xboxes.

I wonder sometimes what the reason for this is, and I think that I have a valid hypothesis: Most South Africans buy consoles to just stick a game in it and play it. If everyone knew the online gaming potential of an Xbox, or even had an internet connection, I think that the console market will be predominantly in the Xbox's favor.

In my opinion Xbox LIVE is second to none, therefore I think that if everyone utilised that service, you would be hard pressed not to find it in all shops. It would definitely sell much better.

HOw did you get hold of a HD 4850 in 2007? They came out this year as far as I know. :confused:

well if you are talking about me or something, i have one last argument.

the kid with a computer is more likely to pick up extra skillz with the pc and perhaps make a living off it one day as there are thousands of pc-related jobs. the future is a world with PC's, and thats a fact.

the kid with a playstation aint gonna do nothing except sit infront of the tv playing Tony Hawk skate boarder 7th edition all day.
 
My friend already had two XBOX 360's die on him. I won't buy a piece of hardware with such a high failure rate. I just had a look and its about 30%. Thats almost 1 in 3!!

The Jasper units only have the same failure rate as a PS3. But at least I only spent one third of the money and still have a 3 year warranty.

Oh and the Falcon chipset is only less than 10%. Please stop scaring everyone with your rantings.

Oh, and the radiation from PS3s has been link to cancer in infants.

Highly improbable, but the same result could be achieved with a cheap PC. Or make them achieve something with linux on the PS2.
 
I can't believe I read all this crap...sigh

1.) Do you see retailers outside of SA discontinuing 360 sales? Have you ever thought that maybe..just maybe, it's due to the supplier (Mi Digital) being a crappy distributor. I can almost promise you that if Ster Kinekor (even though they're not super great themselves) have done 360 as well if would have been different.

2.) There is indeed a failure rate with the 360 but no always in the way you might think. Firstly the Falcon unit rate is much much lower and the Jasper is basically RROD free. Secondly you must all keep in mind that all electronics including the PS3 has problems of it's own (links can be provided on request). Such as Blu-Ray lens failures and YLOD. Atleast when my console gives me problems 2 years down the line I'm still covered under warranty and as a bonus I get a new one and not some repaired and scratched unit.

3.) People are dumb! I've seen many pics on forums proving this over and over so let me just make this clear. The Xbox 360 is not stackable even though it's flat. For some odd reason people sandwiches the thing in between crap like DVD recorders, DSTV decoders, VCR's, etc. As with all next gen high powered hardware the thing heats up (hence the reason for the air ducts)...so Duh!
