My 2c.

Each has there pro's & con's. Certain games way better suited for consoles & others better suited for PC. Both will end up costing an arm a leg so you if you can't afford both you need to chose which one suits you best.

Best of both worlds FTW.

+1

Your not a nerd either way, nor are you beta than some1 else cause of your system, its personal choice.

And maybe show off your e-Penis by bringing your cheap 42" to a lan.

*Slowly raises hand

:D

I dunno, i find lanning quite fun...a chance to actually swear/scream/whatever at the person fragging you, and also to walk past and mutter "ownage" after a good game of mopping up his blood from the floor :o

I think Keeper secretly want's to be a console gamer :D that why he keep posting here the xbot's can have him :p

nevar!

i'd rather let one of lolly jackson's minions lick my bawls for R1000 then paying that for 10 hours of gaming...

do xbox lans even exist though? do you guys come together at a house and lan?

i think they do that in the US....

I prefer having 1 ultimate system that runs it all, instead of 2 mediocre systems...

in the future there will only be a single multimedia device, not a load of smaller ones...like a dvd, video recorder, gaming system, hi-fi, etc, just one thing that works on the future's internet...

I'm the same. I've already sold my tv. I have no use for a tv. All the series and movies I want are on my pc, with 5.1 surround sound via my logitech Z5500s.

@ Keeper:

Scenario....

The PC fanboi in a one year time period:

1st January - Buy R5000 PC & Oblivion
2nd January - Play Oblivion on all settings set to High & realise 10 fps
3rd January - Set all settings to low & realise 30 fps... aaaahh
1st March - Buy Crysis...
2nd March - Set all settings to low because you know your pc sucks... 15 fps
3rd March - PC upgrade - some RAM and a 22" LCD = R4000
4th March - OMG my pc can't handle 1440 x 900!!!
5th March - PC upgrade - VGA = R3000
6th March - WTF fps still 15 fps... hmmm ...surf internet for help...
7th March - OH DAMN!!! CPU bottleneck... shop tomorrow...
8th March - PC upgrade - New CPU = R2500
9th March - YES!!! 60 FPS!!!
1st May - OMG NEW GAME!!!

Rinse and repeat... approx R15000 one year (to get performance equal to Xbox)

Xbox owner scenario over 5 years:

Buy Xbox R3000
Buy Screen or TV - hmmm let's say... R5000

Rent games for R20 a day...

Expenditure over 5 years: R15000

Ya dig?

Sigh.

1st jan buys R8000 pc. (Remember also that most people already have a pc anyway. So if you were gonna buy a R5000 office pc it'll be just R3000 to R2000 extra to make it gaming capable. Let's just say you don't have a pc at all just to provide console with best case scenario).

If you want to use live as an advantage you need to the pro which is R3500.

So over 3 years buying two games a month pc R400 for xbox R700(also being generous, R900 games seem to be the norm now).

pc cost: R22400

xbox: R28700

If you were gonna have a work pc anyway total pc cost will be closer to R18400.

So pc is cheaper gaming. Een when you take away the benefit of actually having a pc like work, and encoding movies, and making dvds or whatever.

If I was childish I go on about how every 3 months I'd need swap out my console for a new one or how often I have to rebuy games because my discs get scratched. Console games also have patches these days.

If you want to add in screens pc wins even further.

If you buy R900 games and not wait till the price drops you'll be paying an extra R7200.

Most AAA pc games are still R350. So a saving of R1800.

Dunno, but I rather enjoy 7.1 uncompressed Dolby TrueHD.

Say, how are you enjoying COD4 on a 42" LCD, with Full Dolby 5.1 - on your PC?

If at all.

I came from PC gaming, was sick of upgrading every 2 years.

I spent R8500 on a dualcore, 2Gb, HD4850 in 2007, and I could still not play Crysis on very high.

I prefer console gaming - less hassle, and less TCO over 5 years.

:)

LOL. PC gaming is by far the cheapest.

Great then go sit at your desk and play hunched-back all by your lonesome, while the rest of us enjoy playing from the comfort of our couches with a few mates and beers. And all without installing crap and applying 500MB patches.

I don't hunch. High back office chair for the win. :)

yep. my Television viewing comes from a PC, filled with everything i need, pumped with HD Quality.

I don't have time for loud adverts and crap. also don't have to wait a year to watch a new episode either.

I just like being ahead of the curve...

only thing is, I have to get my news/info on the world through the internet, as I have no SABC news or anything, but it's all good.:)

No, you're not telling people to do with their money. Instead you're accusing console owners of being "child-like" every chance you get for choosing to game on a console as opposed to on a PC.

You do not listen to reason and constantly jump into threads that have nothing to do with the PC to sing it's praises as a gaming platform. Myself and others have on many occasions taken you up on your opinions (as one sided as they may be) and cited everything from comfort factors, pricing to game availability and time constraints, but you still carry on like someone whose life revolves purely around their PC.

You want to talk about being "child-like"? Ignoring the points of the people you started a discussion with, ranting on like the PC is the be all and end all to a group of people who have made an educated decision on why they game on a specific platform and taking any opportunity to berate them for that choice is childish.

What you are effectively doing is behaving like a child with his fingers in his ears, running around in circles shouting: "PC! PC! PC!" and "I can't hear you!" and annoying a group of people trying to quietly discuss the topic at hand.

...or perhaps distributors would be forced to bring their prices in line with the rest of the world, e.g. the Wii.

QFT!

well if you are talking about me or something, i have one last argument.

the kid with a computer is more likely to pick up extra skillz with the pc and perhaps make a living off it one day as there are thousands of pc-related jobs. the future is a world with PC's, and thats a fact.

the kid with a playstation aint gonna do nothing except sit infront of the tv playing Tony Hawk skate boarder 7th edition all day.

Maybee sum 1337 sk1llz laaik sp3llinG & gr4mm4R? ;)

No more DSTV?!

Ah yes Farlig, bout time you joined... but if your mommy didn't buy you a 'puter when you were a young little boy, you wouldn't be sitting at home, working as a developer.

if you only had a Playstation, and not a PC, things might have been different.

you know it be true.
