*180# then option 6 for tarrif change... option 2 and then option 2 again will be sim sonke
So (I'm porting from MTN), I would port to the 200mb a month, then change tarrif plans to sim sonke?

Ok here are the steps to follow then..... I have not yet ported a number so as oomdomy said you will have a problem changing tarrifs when you ported your number. It will most likely get fixed but here is for a problem free port to the internet staterpack for R49
Step 1: Buy the staterpack for R49 and rica it.
Step 2: Put the sim into a phone and let it activate with a 081 or 061 number
Step 3: Change the price plan to sim sonke via *180# option 6 then option 2 then option 2 for sim sonke then option 1 to confirm.
Step 4: You get a popup message saying sim updated. Just restart the phone and confirm its on sim sonke by checking if you have the option for free calls under the *180# menu. Should be option 7. Now you are on sim sonke with the recurring bundle also.
Step 5: Now you port your number to the staterpack.
So now you have sim sonke + 200mb for 12 months and you can port your number to it...

How do you do this?Step 5: Now you port your number to the staterpack.![]()
How do you do this?
According to the call centre, who probably can't be trusted for accurate info:
- You can't change tariff to sim sonke, you have to buy the starter pack with 2 sims
- You can't port a number to sim sonke sim
All the above is very inacurate... You can now change tarrif plans once a month. You can port to sim sonke or 8ta more.
Sadly the only way to port is by going to a telkom or telkom mobile store.... You need to take both your sim sonke number that is already activated and the number that you want to port with you. They will send you a OTP to the number you want to port while you are in store and the port will be done by 7pm same day or 7pm next day.

Cut your sim yourself (or some stores have punches that do it...)Cool. Final question, is it possible to get a nano SIM Sonke sim, or do I:
- get a new normal TM nano SIM
- switch to SIM sonke tariff plan
- port current number to new sim

So I should just buy a R49 starter pack thing, then port to sim sonke with that number.
After that is done, I port my MTN number to my TM sim?
Sorry just trying to get everything in order.

Yes. Buy it. Switch it on. Change tarrif plan via *180# then once your tarrif plan is changed port your number. Sorted. Tarrid change is intstant so you can even do it while you are in store.
i have a cell sim with mtn number
can i also just buy the r49 starter pack and then port to telkom mobile ?
i already have a sim sonke sim btw ...paid R1 for it

I did all this and was denied the porting, the assistant said that I had to ask the him to port the number while rica'ing the new TM number? Now I'm stuck any ideas what I have to do?
Edit: I was not advised either during the process that if I needed to port the number I'd have to do it before the number was allocated.
