Skyworth Binge Android TV box

Don't buy this box for a home theater application. It's fine for you average Joe who just wants DSTV and Youtube but I couldn't get passthrough to work correctly with Plex or Kodi to my Marantz receiver (not via HDMI or optical). It also doesn't support 24p switching and will struggle with high bitrate files due to its 100Mbit ethernet port.

There is only one Android box to get if you want a good experience with everything and that's the Nvidia Shield (except their remote, their remote is crap).
I got the Dolby passthrough to work on 5 skyworth android tv boxes all working with 5.1 home theater system with kodi plex and cyberflix

I want it as an average Joe user, no remuxes or anything crazy, my highest bitrate x265 is Planet Earth at ~5Mbps and x264 files at <10Mbps but I can't not have 5.1 surround and HD audio on the odd occasion I feel like it. I don't want anything crazy, just to upgrade a 2014 Samsung H series or my 2nd gen Chromecast.

whoever says that 5.1 passthrough is not working on the skyworth box your guys setup is completely wrong, I got this to work flawlessly with no issues and tested this with mx player as well as kodi and plex

There is no such version. We thought he was referring to our 0921 build somehow, but perhaps he is referring to another box.
will you be releasing a new version anytime soon for the skyworth box, I also wanted to know I see alot of people are selling the skyworth Tv and wanted to know how is the quality on the 4k 65inch skyworth android tv

Our team is still in the planning stages here. We don't have a timeline yet.

Any using HDMI or just S/PDIF aka optical?
We have tested internally with both and both are working. However note that S/PDIF has bandwidth limitations and cannot carry uncompressed 7.1. This is a limitation of the media used to carry the audio data and applies to the receiver as well. Support may depend on your playback software.

I am using optical a fiber optic cable , i posted a step by step of how what i did in my previous posts of how to get the 5.1 to work

Well it definitely doesn't work properly with my particular set up. I'm using a Marantz SR5012 receiver.

I updated to the latest firmware on the box and did a full factory reset. Tried both HDMI and optical, both result in garbled audio with passthrough enabled. I tried changing all the audio settings for the box but nothing I did there made any difference, maybe you can tell me what your settings are then I can test again on my side.

so you plugged your Marantz optical cable directly into the skyworth box?, is your surround sound 5.1 or 7.1?

did you install the codecs for the skyworth box?

Anyone get freezing/device lockup s in YouTube. Especially when skipping forward or changing YouTube vids. Have to hard boot remove cable

Yes, but I would rather not use optical - I was just trying it to see if it was just the HDMI giving issues but both have the same behaviour. It's a 7.2 capable receiver, that shouldn't make any difference.

I shouldn't need any additional codecs especially if I'm doing passthrough (as the receiver should be doing all the decoding for me).
nope you will still need codecs I thought the exact same thing until I installed the codecs and then only it worked

what player are you using to test your audio?
