Skyworth Binge Android TV box

Thanks for information fellas. I think one can hold off having to buy AV1 supported players for now, they'll naturally become standard in due time.

Well, I have had my LIT box and Mi-Box box a good many years, so if I was buying a device now, AV1 would be a big plus - as it might become a requirement in 2 years time. If you don't mind buying a new box in around 2 years time then it is not an issue.

Well I hope its just a case of an Bandwidth efficiency thing and that old streaming tech will still work as a fallback for many years to come. It would be savage if they just went cold turkey and cut off all devices unable to stream if they dont have AV1 support.

With Global warming, it's best to go to a streaming service that support it.

Netflix, YouTube, and all major streaming providers will move to it, how long they will support older codecs is anyone ones guess, but soon, all new media will be AV1.

So at some point, you will want to watch something, and you will have a black screen and just an audio track, what I get when playing AV1 media on a device that does not support it.

Netflix etc. will probably be nice and pop up an unsupported codec message.

An unappreciated effect of what is called progress. :(

Hello Friends,

I need a bit of help please, i changed the "color space setting from 410 to 444 on my Skyworth Leap S1. Now the display is gone, i would like to try and revert the setting with having the screen off. Would anyone be so nice to send me some screenshots of the settings menu to the actual video setting, or even a word tutorial would be great.

EDIT: pics will be better, just want to make sure i have the same interface

Bought this Skyworth Leap S1 from HIFI Corp on the 15th of this month along with a Sony 1000W Soundbar. I very quickly discovered that the Skyworth says Dolby on the box but delivers no such thing. Using the SPDIF (Optical connection) the Codec transmitted by the Leap S1 is mere LPCM and the Netflix App offers STEREO only (no 5.1 surround sound).

I am sadly disappointed with this device. The menus have all great looking settings for Optical out etc... but it delivers only LPCM (no surround). I've tested the cable with other devices (I have an old LG Blu Ray player that offers Netflix with 5.1 Surround over SPDIF) and they give brilliant Dolby Surround and/or DTS. Using the same files, the Skyworth still only sends LPCM via the optical out.

I tried calling Skyworth (useless to say the least) -- the switchboard transferred my countless times and later started ignoring my incoming calls because there was no technical support or assistance.

SKYWORTH IS A PIECE OF ****!
You ever got this sorted out?

Still need this? I can provide it tomorrow if you do

@Skyworth Digital Support I have a 55" TV with android tv built in and we sometimes play, family, videos from an 2.5" hdd that is NTFS formatted and plugged into the TV.
Thing is, sometimes the drive can be written to and sometimes it cannot. Do you know what the official supported filesystems are for the android tv's?

@Skyworth Digital Support I loaded the new Disney+ app on my Leap S1 and I get no display on new content, only sound. It looks like the device isn't supporting Dolby Vision content but my TV(LG C1 OLED) has DV support and I can see a display when trying the app on my TV, Its just the Leap S1 not displaying content.

Am I doing something wrong here or do you have any suggestions?

Also, do you know if the included hdmi cable with the leap s1 is hdmi 2.1?

Thanks

I don't think many Android TVs do Dolby Vision - including the Skyworth. So the TV is a 'yes' and the Skyworth is a 'no'

I think it's only the Xiaomi MI Stick 4K

What worries me then is why does it not "downscale" to HDR10 or just normal HDR. Just gives a black screen and sound.

Could this be the disney+ app?

What title are you trying to watch? i dont want to subcribe to something if it doesnt work.

Testing with new content like Moon Knight or Blackwidow. Older stuff like Lost shows a picture but newer stuff like those is just blank for me

I've just tested a few new titles, yours included. Works perfectly. (All Default Settings)
You have probably tried this, but try reinstalling the app.
Do you maybe have a second Android box you can test on and not the TV itself?

EDIT: Maybe also try to reduce the quality from AUTO to HD

I’ve been using Disney Plus with a VPN on the Leap S1 for months. No problems so far.
