Small automatic SUV for city driving

Hi everyone,

My wife mainly drives around in the city. Her car is getting on in years and she would very much like to trade it in on an almost new small SUV. Something that sits a bit higher on the road but is still compact for ease of parking.

Are there any recommendations outside of the Kia Sonet and Suzuki Fronx that we should be looking at? She'd like to spend close to or below R320k, and would prefer a low mileage / demo vehicle.

I have been eyeing the Sonet and the Hyundai Venue. Venue coming in slightly cheaper.
 
Suzuki Fronx is fantastic. Reliable, cheap to maintain down the line and lots of features.
Downsides are that it is slower compared to the turbo rivals and the interior colours are not for everyone.

Kia Sonet is good, not a huge fan of the CVT box though and the features are few on the base models.

The Mahindra 3X0 is another option, modern features, good gearbox and the engine was in the last XUV300 which looks reliable for a turbocharged engine.

Thanks so much. I agree on your statements, my wife definitely prefers the Sonet from the photos she's seen while I think the Fronx is better value. She currently drives a 1.5 so the turbo shouldn't be an issue. We'll go check them out in person this weekend.

I drive a Mahindra myself and it's been a great car, I'll add it thanks.
 
Chery Tiggo has a Facebook group called Chery Tiggo Fans or something like that (Local South African Group)

Have a look/search on facebook if you have facebook and see the feedback from owners.

I was looking at them due to the price and features. The thing that changed my mind is they do not keep spare parts if seems in SA with many customers who have problems waiting for over 3 / 4 months to get parts for repairs also know of someone personally in this situation.

So while the price is really good, its also a luck of the draw situation - if you get one that runs perfectly with no issues you got a great deal. If you have one with issues you might be in for a frustrating journey.

What kinds of parts, body parts for accident repairs or also engine/transmission/electronics parts?

Unfortunately this is an industry problem, I know people who have waited for spares from other more well known car brands for months as well, from Mini to BMW to Mercedes Benz to Peugeot.

From what I could gather a range of parts, not only accidents. Even items covered under warranty for new vehicles...
