What PoE version does the camera need? I believe most of them are 802.11af, which is 50v. I bought some cheap Scoop branded PoE switches for my Reolink cameras. I didn’t want to risk using PoE injectors on them. At R1k for an 8 port PoE switch, with two additional uplinks and 90W PSU, it worked out cheaper than PoE injectors in any case.

That being said, those specific cameras can be powered from 12v as well.

I want to move two to remote locations on either side of the property, I don't really want to buy a switch for each of them - as there is already a non-PoE switch, and power, about 2m from where they're going.

Eish ok. I tried looking on the website but I can’t see anything other than it being PoE. They only have an Ethernet port on them? No other dc jack as well? If so, that might be a better option to power them? Not sure if these cameras support passive PoE, if they do then a cheap injector might do the trick

Nope, just an ethernet jack... the cameras are really good value though, so far the most stable I've tried, and good face/human detection.

I think he was referring to buying directly from the REOLINK website as mentioned by adielk in which case your experience with Amazon is not relevant.

I'm sure Reolink would ship a new one to you if it's faulty and you purchased directly from them.

If you ok with refurbished, going for less than $35.

Further looking into this- it looks like they're 12v - so I'm assuming a passive PoE injector with a 12v power supply should be fine?

Yes and no,I've found POE injection to be iffy.

I suggest you rather look at something like this and it might work out cheaper in the long run also if you ever need to expand.(R575 vs R300 odd including shipping)

I already use that exact switch for the other camera's - only need to power two camera's in remote locations - I ordered the banggood stuff - lets see if they work.

Lol yeah, for the whole lot. Technically, I paid R900 for shipping to my door in less than 2 weeks. I can't complain about that for 8 cameras.

DHL charging about R334 for 2 cameras. Last time for far more expensive argus 2 there were no charges.

Your R900 for 8 cameras way better per unit. So next time probably better to buy more.

Less than 2 weeks. Got mine yesterday. DHL fast. Reolink takes a week to get it to DHL.

I have 8 and thinking of getting another 4. These Reolinks are the shizz. One thing I never thought was that I'd have use for the audio recording side; turns out we had gunshots in our are a while back, early in the morning. I thought I imagined it, but true as nuts when I played the recordings back a few minutes later, you could hear it clear as day. Turns out one of the local security companies were in a tuffle and fired a shot (which they denied later)...

I've gone with the refurbished models, so they're about $36 each (slightly less if you order 2/3/4).
Shipping is free, with DHL.
If you read up the thread, a few people have been hit with import taxes, though it seems somewhat random whether they do. Probably worth budgeting R150 a camera.
