My 5mp reolinks fine but for front gate I want clear images as far as possible.
So waiting on a reolink 8mp to arrive.

Its been showing despatched since 8 Feb. It seems Reolink using Singapore Post (4PX?) instead of DHL.Reolink is quick!
With DHL it would have been here by now.

Isn't it the other way round - once Homekit support Reolink? Just asking im not sure how these things work. Surely homekit should be able to just ingest RTSP / RTMP etc?

Five weeks later and we are still appreciating the new cameras.
The biggest mindset change comes with the treating them as an alarm system and not a 24/7 camera system ie. arming and disarming.
Disarming is important because you really don’t need or want false alarms and junk footage.
My wife is quite good with helping in this regard as she arms and disarms which I can forget to do on occasion.
Recently I missed footage of a lurker which my neighbour alerted me to but luckily he didn’t hang around long. Early Feb I captured someone around our cars but he also didn’t stay long.
Armed response and neighbourhood watch patrols are very reactive in our area - given half a chance and an intruder will be kissing the tarmac.
Some observations thus far:
• Some sort of event logging is sorely missing ala Ajax
• Having primary and secondary users would be nice (right now all users are an admin)
• Wireless and sync module connectivity must be strong and not weak else you get disconnections (seems obvious)
• Zone masking seems a bit iffy because I still get triggers even with an area masked out. I’m experimenting more with sensitivity now
• Periodic updating of the image would be nice - right now you have to request a new image if you don’t want to live stream
• Scheduling is weak and there needs to be more granular control (per camera)
• Cameras occasionally go offline - again event logging would be useful here. Perhaps it’s a firmware check/update?
I’ve since installed another system in Melkbosstrand - better Wi-Fi is definitely needed here.
